This museum's focus is on Marco Island history dating back centuries. Exhibits show visitors how the native Calusa tribes lived and later times as European settlers arrived. More modern history is covered too from the late 19th thru 20th centuries. Many artifacts with detailed descriptions bring the history to life along with realistic dioramas. For a "local museum", visitors will find the displays very professional and they compare very favorably with those of much larger museums.
