This small and expensive french restaurant is a real discovery for those who appreciate gourmet meals. A stunning variety of foie is their specialty. The tasting menu we chose was cooked to perfection. The french wines suggestions are excellent choices that you will remember , at 13 dollars a glass for good french wines is a good option. The service is excellent but do not be intimidated by the french type conversation when you choose your meal : they are very nice people. A must for any special celebration.

You will find something really different from others Miami's restaurants. Small place, high standing, nothing like ocean drive, sounded good !

Food was excellent : Duo foie gras is great, Risotto is to be discovered and the squad is awesome.

Wines pairing with menu tasting are too overstated

Too many service mistakes. We waited half an hour to get our first drink of water, we were continually asking for bread that waiter forgot everytime...For French customers it's disapointing... Cutlery were not changed from one dish to another ! The lobster bisque was spilled out.. Finally the most discusting point : A customer brought in a little dog which was sitting on the coach close the table...Not sure if it's in high scale restaurant's traditions

Something interesting also is we had a check over $1000 and they still charge us for a $7 bottle pretending they don't serve tap water... I think everything is said

To sum up, this restaurant has everything to be Excellent but the service is not at the level you can expect thus the price is clearly not in the right scale. They know they offer something upper than others restaurants but unfortunatly they abuse of it.

It is a pity

Thanks about letting us know about some issues that are uncommon in our restaurant where we focus on the quality of our cuisine, the wine experience and the service; this part was apparently, on this day not at the level we expect to be all the time..
It was an unfortunate set of circumstances that didn't allow us to perform on this specific day as we usually do.
Regarding the presence of a dog, you have to know that it was a service dog with the proper paperwork. We tried first to seat the couple outside but they refused because of the hot temperature, so we had limited choice.
Contact our GM, we would like to give you a special opportunity to visit us again

Went with my husband for the first time. Had a very enjoyable experience. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience at Pied a Terre...
As you figured out, we used the best products and ingredients in our cuisine and it comes with a price unfortunately...Shopping yourself you probably noticed that prices of high quality products is going up...
You could have noticed too that our wine list is very fairly and reasonably priced unlike many places in Miami...
We are looking forward to your next visit probably featuring a new menu then.

As part of a private F&B group I enjoyed a lovely diner especially assembled by Patrick Gruest the owner, but marred by a dated fussiness in his humorless food presentations/wine commentary intros that all-too easily reminded me of haughty Parisian disdain suffered when attempting a good dinner in the French capital.

That said it didn't distract one bit from appreciating the lovely tastes & value delivered foodwise considering the evident good kitchen work with no Chef de Cuisine being in charge .. a most original enterprise that certainly deserves ones appreciation of the line cook's high achievements..
In all, a qualified success.

Thanks for visiting us and the opportunity to enjoy our cuisine.
I am sorry you perceived some disdain in my presentation... no disdain on my part..
But by experience, I know that many American guests have a wrong perception of what is the real French cuisine today...light but very flavorful...The reason I spend time to try to defuse this misconception and give our guests the opportunity to discover what it is about. At the end of the meal they are very satisfied to have discovered what really French Cuisine is about today.
We are looking for your next visit when we probably will feature a new menu, as we are changing our menu 3 times a year.

Our food and wine society was hosted by Patrick and the staff at Pied a Terre, and we could not have asked for a more exquisite evening. We dined outside on the terrace, and each course was paired perfectly with wines of lesser-known varietals and vintages. This is a hard-to-impress group, and everyone commented on how wonderful the experience was from start to finish. Unlike most South Beach restaurants, the focus here is the food and the experience - not the loud background music and frenetic scene. Definitely the finest culinary gem in South Beach, and should not be missed.
