Great value for money. Large room with stunning views. The room was clean and the service was really good! Yes, the hotel is a little tired however they do not market themselves as a luxury hotel. The location is awesome, right on the beach and walking distance to restaurants. We used the valet service for our car and we got perfect service.

Room Tip: Pay the little extra and book a room with ocean view!

Do not be fooled by the common parts which if you look quickly are sleek and chic..... The place is a dump, in need of millions of dollars to be spent on it in renovation work. It is not even cheap. The suites are a great size. This place could be fabulous and maybe it was once upon a time but not now. Ripped fabric, filthy floors and bathtubs held together with mastic. Common parts tatty and worn. There is only ONE reason to stay here and that is the location. It's near everything you need to be near in Miami beach. Staff are very nice but few and far between. Breakfast is expensive and mediocre. Go three doors down to the Social Club for an a la carte brekkie worth paying for.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else

It was my first time booking a place for three in South Beach and I found the hotel rates for the week between Christmas and New Years to be exorbitant. Especially after realizing that most hotels have small outdated floor plans to begin with, a bungalow at Sagamore stood out as--by far--the best deal on Collins Ave. To tell you the truth, it was, and we were left with no regrets. However, there are a few things that I'd like to note.

We arrived at the hotel in the early afternoon and were told that check-in typically wasn't until 4PM and that the room "wasn't quite ready." We were then told to go hang out and that we'd receive a phone call as soon as the room was ready. 2:30 came, 3:30 came, and, finally, 4:30 came before we realized that something was amiss. We headed back to the front desk to find a different employee standing there who was seemingly given no reminder to call when the room was ready. It was not a battle worth fighting.

We checked in and, to echo other reviews, we were met by a strange smell as we walked through the main corridor of the building. It wasn't particularly noxious, but it was always there.

The room itself was exactly as described with no deficiencies whatsoever. The spiral staircase was a bit rickety, but overall it was one of the most spacious hotel rooms I've ever stayed in. The bed was plush and the sofa bed didn't elicit any complaints.

The location of the hotel is fantastic. The pool was nice, if a bit shallow. Sleep was not a priority on this trip, but the hotel next door does have really obnoxious, are-you-kidding-me bass that starts relatively early in the day and ends very late at night. On top of that, it seemed like all of the hotel guests aside from us were families, so we'd be awoken by our neighbors' various stages of getting the kids ready early each morning. Additionally, the kids overran the pool and the pool area.

The hotel had a private event on New Year's Eve which meant that the entire pool area was closed down. We were informed of this the day before, not at the time of booking. While we had other plans on NYE (this is Miami, after all), there's something that rubs me the wrong way about not having access to amenities that were paid for.

Overall, this hotel was a great value for a boys trip. If you are looking for something romantic and/or truly relaxing you need to look elsewhere.

Our room was not as described when we booked it. Did NOT have a spa bath or king size bed. It was dirty, cramped and the fittings were tired (and that is being kind). The room rate was very expensive and there was nothing to recommend the place. From the grumpy (and I don’t blame them, everyone must be unhappy with their rooms) front desk staff to the cramped, grubby, creaky and only elevator to all the floors in the main building. This hotel was truly terrible. The carpets in the corridors were filthy and ripped, the bedrooms felt very dirty. It is like no one cares about the hotel or the guests, and having read a bit more about the horle’s Recent history since staying there, this depose make sense. It seems to have been a real passion project for the owner, who, desperately sadly, lost the hotel due to debt. Since then the condition must have taken a dive and really, the vibe is that nobody cares about the turpentine or the hotel at all. We felt ripped off and saddened by our stay.

Room Tip: Choose another hotel

My husband and I came here the first weekend of January for our 15th anniversary hoping for a romantic getaway on Miami’s south beach. What we got was a smelly, cold, rundown hotel. Granted it is not the hotel’s fault that Miami was cold and rainy, but When we alerted the hotel staff that our room was only 58°, the staff member said he would “get his engineers right on it,” but all they did was turn the fan from auto to “on,” ensuring that the bungalow was uniformly 58 degrees, ensuring NO possibility of any warm corners. The staff was dismissive, and the hotel was clearly run down. To make matters worse, the hotel next door had loud pulsing bass music which went on until at least two in the morning every night so it was impossible to get a good nights sleep.
I CANNOT recommend this hotel.
