If you are planning a trip near Destin Florida and want a great camping experience you have to stay at Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park. Most campsite these days are like a parking lot. You have rows of RVs and trailers parked close together. This is not camping but at Rocky Bayou you feel like you are in nature. The sites are large and each site is separated by 30 to 40 feet of trees. But the best part is the sites are staggered so you look at the trees across from your site. They have a number of site that look at the Bayou. The staff is great very friendly and helpful. There are nature trails in the camping area which are handicap accessable and very flat. Next to the campground there is day park where you can rent kayaks and swim in the Bayou. Playground and restrooms. Picnic Tables and shelters. The campground has water and electric but no sewer hookup but they have a dump station near the bath house. The Bath has is heated and air conditioned and very clean and comfortable. There are restaurants and shops 5 minutes away and Destin is 15 minutes away across the bridge.
