“Battle Reenactment 2015”

Thousands of people dress in period costume and camp in canvas tents for the reenactment weekend. I went to photograph the event. There was almost too much to see. People gathered around campfires. Gear was hung on posts. Dishes and food were organized on tables, just waiting to be shot. Shops sold reproduction clothing and artifacts. The actual reenactment required some patience, but it was quite fascinating to watch. It was interrupted for a bit when some pyrotechnics set brush on fire, but they were prepared for such eventualities and the action soon got underway again.
There are markers and some exhibits for other times of the year, but this park is to quite up to the standard of the national battlefields in VA, MD and PA.

We stopped in for the Olustee Reinactment and it was one of the coolest things ive seen.. There were a ton of vendors selling clothing and gifts from this era.. I absolutely 100% will come back for this event!!

Having been to lots of Civil War sites, this one was pretty disappointing. No one in visitors' ceneyet and little signage about anything to do. Movie was OK, and monument impressive.

I definitely enjoy this dedication to History of Florida's only Major Battle in the Civil War.. The Monuments and Artifacts are definitely worth taking the time and see ..

The host was excellent and enthusiastic when he spoke of the geography and associated significant events. Walking tour 1000 yards through woods with lots of signage and details.
