Thousands of people dress in period costume and camp in canvas tents for the reenactment weekend. I went to photograph the event. There was almost too much to see. People gathered around campfires. Gear was hung on posts. Dishes and food were organized on tables, just waiting to be shot. Shops sold reproduction clothing and artifacts. The actual reenactment required some patience, but it was quite fascinating to watch. It was interrupted for a bit when some pyrotechnics set brush on fire, but they were prepared for such eventualities and the action soon got underway again.
There are markers and some exhibits for other times of the year, but this park is to quite up to the standard of the national battlefields in VA, MD and PA.
