We just returned from a long weekend and stayed in a studio at the Kidani Villas. We are DVC members, and have stayed at a variety of the Disney World resorts, DVC and regular.

The Kidani Villas are lovely, and even a standard view room landed us a view with lush trees and the pool area. Our room was in the "Rafiki" area of the parking deck - so it was a bit of a walk to the bus area but since you can do the walk indoors, its not bad during inclement weather (and we had cool temps and rain). The animal views are amazing - just walking by the windows make me want to pull up a seat (and there are seats by viewing windows) and watch them.

While I do love staying at this resort, there are a few things that I consider "cons" when compared to other Disney Resorts:
-no hooks! There are no hooks in the bathroom on which to hang a bathrobe or pjs, no hooks in the hallway/room area on which to hang jackets or bags. we found ourselves hanging things on door handles (yuck) and rummaging for hangers. Oddly enough there was a closet and a wardrobe - but only hangers in the wardrobe. Considering the lack of hooks elsewhere, I would have expected to find hangers in both the closet and the wardrobe.
- Intense water pressure-- which an be a pro as well as a con. The water pressure in the shower is seriously intense ..which might make it too much for a small child showering. Because its so intense, I could hear the toilet flushing in the room above us
-I dislike the grapefruit infused toiletries provided here.
(Note that these are personal preferences, not a negative on the resort.)

The gym was nice and clean and offered a good variety of aerobic equipment and weights. Unlike many of the DVC & luxury level resorts, the gym had a water fountain, not a water cooler. Florida water is pretty nasty to us, so this was a negative in my mind.

The laundry facility was clean and easy to find. Right next to the community center and the arcade.

The community center was very nice and clean - a cute variety of free things for kids, fun movies playing, and a nice selection of other things to make - I made a very cute travel mug (colored the design on the inside) for my daughter for less than $3.

The gift shop at Kidani has a nice selection of items and food products, and has soft drinks and coffee available to refill your travel mugs. It was clean and well kept every time I was near it. For "big" shopping though, walk over to the main lodge - their gift shop has a much much larger selection of jewelry, clothing, gifts, etc.

Every staff person we interacted with was true to the Disney standard - friendly, helpful, and pleasant.

Bus service was timely, and the waiting area has a nifty screen showing you the next arrival time for the various buses.

Room Tip: ask for an upper floor - even in a standard room you'll see lush vegetation and greenery.

Room 7974, overlooking savannah...open balcony doors and there were giraffes, ostrich zebras..very cool! Lobby to room was 1/4 round trip! We walked everywhere...place is huge. Rooms were gorgeous! Hair dryers, washer dryer with detergent, dishwasher, 1 BR with 2 full baths and a giant jacuzzi and stand up shower. Safe in room and very attentive staff. Meal plan which we could use at any Disney resort. Even magic kingdom. All stands there and most restaurants accept the magic band. Pool towels provided by pool. Kidani slide much better for kids who enjoy the pool. We used quick meal plan which u could package meals to go to your room or eat in the cafeteria. Downtown disney accepted meal plan , wolf gang pucks express was awesome and u could either done in or take out. Shuttle provided there took about 25 minutes and was always packed. There are 5 in our family. King size bed, queen pull out sofa and twin pull out sofa. Kids r aged 7,9 year old twins. Where our room
Was we found shortcut from pool to take elevator to room from garage...saved a ton of steps! Limited menu at kidani pool but hotdogs were 1ft long! Kids loved them. On quick plan it said if kids meal available order kids meal..they don't care though when u order, just tell them exactly what u want. Had a great time prepping snacks for animals, kids collected beads for every event completed. Night vision
Goggles were cool
Too! Loved it!

We stayed in a 2 bedroom here on the first night of our vacation. Moved to Villas at Grand Floridian the next night because they didn't have room the first night. We were surprised at how much we liked this resort. The rooms were huge.... clean.... quiet... in the morning we walked out on the patio and LOVED the view of the animals. The only problem we had here was the service at the front desk on check in. We arrived late (midnight) and the staff at the desk was very rude and not at all helpful. Asked for directions to room and were told "It's just over there". However, everyone else was friendly and helpful. If you don't mind the time involved in traveling to the parks this is a great place to stay.

Room Tip: Savana views are fun!

Just recently returned from vacation @Disney World-as we are DVC members and stayed at our home base of Animal Kingdom Lodge/Kidani Village.
Bitter sweet is the taste left in our mouths here…Our room had a Savannah view, which was very nice. Waking up to a plethora of wild animals is nice and fascinating-children of all ages will like it:)
Heres what to be prepared for: A long walk to your room (5 minutes plus) depending where your room is--maybe more. Transportation is all bus--unless you pay for a taxi (we did). You don't want to spend a good amount of time waiting for buses on your Disney vacation. The property itself is nice and the pools both Jambo and Kidani are very nice. Restaurants and giftshops in both Jambo and Kidani. Jiko restaurant was excellent for dinner.
Verdict: Nice place, travel time is prevalent.

Room Tip: Savannah View @ Kidani is a must!! Otherwise stay at the Jambo house.

Our first stay in Animal Kingdom property, a studio at Kidani Village. Loved our room, view of animals, loved Sanaa and that bread! Felt very welcomed and comfortable. We were there first December weekend, and was warm enough we spend one afternoon at the pool and it was great...the atmosphere, the slide and the bartender loved the Cubs! We had a car, but we used buses most and they were very efficient. We were visiting the Christmas sights, so we even used the shuttle to go over to Jambo House and see the lobby and the decorations. We stayed near the lobby third floor up on the south trail, and it seemed many more animals were better seen from the north trail...we would ask for a room near the lobby and on the north trail side next time. Room was well appointed and very comfortable. Bathroom area seemed a bit larger than some other studios we have stayed at. We are Disney veterans, and our primary purpose of the trip was to visit all around and see how the holiday decorations, so the fact that Kidani is not centrally located was of zero concern to us. Had seen it mentioned about the Sanaa bar area closing early, but my wife and I were there with a few others until nearly midnight on evening after we had returned to Kidani around 10:00, food was available, though limited, but they were still very nice.

Room Tip: We had asked for, and received, a room on their third floor (which is actually their second floor of rooms) and next time we would ask for the north trail, near the lobby. It just seemed the animals outside were much more plentiful there.
