My family shared two adjoining rooms at the Hard Rock Hotel. Both rooms had two queen size beds. Both beds had clean, modern, plentiful bedding, the mattresses were very comfortable, there was a variety of pillows in the room. The room was clean, had a large desk, double dresser, large LG flat screen television. It also had comfortable additional seating. Our rooms overlooked a green area and provided nice privacy. The hotel is large, well appointed, and full of rock and roll memorabilia. We especially enjoyed the close proximatey to both Universal Studio theme parks. We walked each morning to the parks and appreciated the early admittance that staying on property allowed us. We were able to ride the rides and see the attractions we wanted to before the park was open to the general public. The close proximatey to Universal and City Walk allowed us to do the parks in the morning and early afternoon, come back to the room for a rest, and then head back out for an evening trip to the parks and City Walk. It allowed us more time in the parks and a more pleasant, fun experience.
We did not use the fitness center, there is a $12.00 per day/per person charge. This seemed excessive to us. I realize this probably keeps unattended children out of the workout area, but we refused to pay more for a workout. We also were surprised that the internet is still be charged for, still? really? Enough, people expect access to the internet and I don't think it should still be an extra charge. We enjoyed the Kerurig coffee maker - we have one at home and enjoyed having it on our vacation. We loved the great water pressure in the shower and the lemongrass scented toiletry items. The bathroom was clean, neat and the towels were thick and clean.

Stayed for 3 nights with family and friends. Overall the hotel was wonderful. The staff was extremely accomodating. The Express Pass alone was worth it. We ate at the Kitchen one night and food and service was great. I would highly reccommend this hotel and would definitly return.

Not only was the location fantastic (5 min walk to the parks), but the service was above and beyond. From the waitress at the pool who brought us complementary chips as we were starving, to the wonderful concierge who brought an extra scooter key to the restaurant on CityWalk (I lost mine), the employees at this hotel were fantastic.

We loved the ambiance; however, if you don't want to be woken up by rock music at 9:00 AM, do not get a pool view room. The rooms were nicely decorated and the beds very comfortable. The lounge area has free WIFI and board games for the kids if you get bored (which is impossible considering you are at Universal Studios). The pool had a DJ everyday with a lot of really fun games. The pool was heated so swimming was part of the fun, even with the cooler temperatures outside.

Overall, we would stay at the Hard Rock again - no doubt! Great hotel for families with kids and those who love the whole "rock n roll" experience.

If you are looking for a reliable, comfortable ride to the airport, we used Sr. Celebrity Transportation. Call Nicholas (321-217-6806 or nromain40@yahoo.com). For the cost of a regular cab, you get a more comfortable ride in an SUV with a very nice and friendly driver.

I'm not sure how a hotel like this gets the rights to songs, but over a period of 4 days I heard some of the songs from the 70's and 80's that I would just as soon never have heard again. Can't they get rights to the good songs?
Anyway, the great thing about the Hard Rock is that it's a 3 minute walk to the entrance of Universal Studios. Islands of Adventure is about a 3 minute further walk. Also, the atmosphere is really "cool". There is rock 'n roll memoribilia everywhere.
The rooms were laid out weirdly, with no overhead lights and no bedside tables (there was a big headboard that had a clock and 2 lamps on it). We had a "kid's suite", which was great for the kids, but they could have added a half bath for their room--4 people in a "suite", and only 1 bathroom?
1st night, there was music blaring from the room next door at 11 pm. I called the front desk, and security came up, and it turned out to be an alarm clock that went off improperly! (The loudness was due to the excellent sound system--usually a plus).
2nd night there was a live concert downstairs that filled the room until it ended at 11 pm or so--not a problem if you are a night owl.
The shops and restaurants were excellent. Maid service was superb. Grounds were gorgeous.
Oh, a warning for joggers. They handed me a 3.8 mile jogging route at the concierge desk. Although none of the following was mentioned in the description, it involved crossing a major road 4 times, going through several other road intersections, down an almost hidden staircase, and (I'm telling the truth) actually running IN THE ROAD for about 200 yards.
I would put a "recommend" for this hotel because it was really beautiful, but there were just too many little problems, especially considering it's high price. In the future I would stay at a local condo hotel for $200-300 less per night and buy express passes for everybody--net savings of maybe $100-200/night, more sleeping space, and a kitchen!

I have a large family (eight) and we are making this a annual Christmas Retreat for us. The weather, the location and the parks are just to much fun.

VALUE: OK----you can rate this two ways: 1---Actual cost of the hotel room. YES, you can get cheaper rooms within walking distance of Universal. BUT, #2 is the value of the Universal Express Pass-----$179.99 at the gate, per person for Express Pass for 2-parks, per day. So, multiply that by EIGHT, and the VALUE of the Express Pass pays-for-the-room!!---now, that is Value in my eyes (WARNING---once you get the Express Pass option---you will NEVER stay off-property again----we can get thru Universal in 3 hours...all rides except Rock Rocket, and about 3 hours for I-O-A (excluding the Harry Potter mayhem).

ROOMS: Due to our group of 8, I have to get two rooms. I had two Deluxe Queen Rooms, next to each other, on the 3rd floor. No door between, but next door. Rooms were HUGE, and for all the traffic thru these hotel rooms, the rooms are in fairly good shape. Nice bathrooms, Nice beds, sitting area/living room. Plenty of space.

STAFF: Very accomodating and very friendly.

WI-FI & Internet: OK----they nickel-and-dime you to death here....but, so do all resort type hotels in Orlando. WI-FI IS NOT FREE in the rooms....but, get over it. You don't come here to sit in your room and surf the internet. I am sitting on a big couch, right now, in the Velvet Lounge, with an adult beverage, fast internet. The huge lobby has all the teenagers Facebooking.....but, the internet is free in the Bar/Lounge...so, no kids here.

BELL HOPS: Ob-nox-ious if you don't use them----they will guilt you into using them--and, then expect a huge tip. I mentioned it to the check-in staff and they agreed that other guests had complained in the past.

RICKSHAW BIKES: More obnoxious than the bell hops. These vultures hang out at every pedestrian exit of the property, and "guilt" you into a ride (big/huge signs on bikes state that they receive no income and work for tips only)....so, they will hound you for cash. And, no matter what amount you provide....they will make you feel like you short-changed them. DO NOT use the rickshaws---Hard Rock is easy walking distance to the Theme Parks (really short distance).

POOL: Outstanding!!! Just a fun place for everyone. Yes, kids everywhere----but, it is a Theme Park resort.....not an adults only resort. If you don't want kids everywhere, visit a Senior Citizen Center in Orlando. You can easily loose track of time in the pool area...with a bar, movies and water slide. Plus ping-pong and other games/events.

FITNESS CENTER: I did not spend the money to utilize....instead, I jogged each day along the walking paths between Hard Rock, Portifino Hotel and City Walk. Well lit, and a fun run (and free).

DOOR KEYs: Not only are the door keys used as express pass access, but you can put "amounts" on each card for your family members to spend. Kids love that option--makes them feel like a big-deal signing for food, beverages and other items.

PARKING: NOT free. $15/day with in-n-out privileges.

DINING: Breakfast is NOT included. But, Wendy's and McDonalds are withing 1 mile of the hotel. I made it from McDs and Wendys back to the hotel with hot food in under 15min and saved a-ton-of-money. Ate at "The Kitchen".....expensive ($175 for 8) and horrible service (just terrible......server could care less about our group....kept messing up the beverage orders EACH TIME he came to the table. Abandoned us for 15+min at a time.....just brutally horrible service).....but, great food. Ate at "The Palm"....very well known steakhouse......expensive ($150 for 2, with no bottle wine....just glass of wine each).....but exquisite steak and service.

Overall, we will come back each year---forever---and stay here for our Annual Family Christmas Retreat. You cannot beat the value of the passes and the proximity of the property to the parks. It is just to convienent and fun. Be forewarned....the hotel was COMPLETELY BOOKED for the 3 days we were here.....I booked my room back in April for a December visit......and that was before the Potter mayhem. Book early to ensure that you get a room.....all 3 Universal Property Hotels were fully booked while we were here, and the parks were packed (22,23,24 Dec).
