“Sweet treats on the road to Sarasota”
Review of Dairy Queen

Dairy Queen
Ranked #1 of 2 Dessert in Palmetto
Restaurant details

We weren't looking for it but we found it by accident. We stopped at a Shell Service Station and discovered a Dairy Queen. Located at 7219 U.S. Highway 41 on the road from Tampa to Sarasota, if you don't want to traverse the Sunshine Skyway or travel via I-75, this has to be one of oldest Dairy Queen locations in the country, certainly in Florida. But a Blizzard is a Blizzard, whether you stop at a Dairy Queen in Chicago or in Palmetto. While downing an original 1/3-pound double cheeseburger and a crispy chicken sandwich, we also enjoyed a chocolate chip cookie dough blizzard and a strawberry banana smoothie. With fries. We were informed that locals have been coming to this Dairy Queen for more than 60 years. One thing hasn't changed: the quality of the product. And there are more of them in this competitive fast-food market. We left with traditional vanilla and chocolate ice cream cones. No wonder Dairy Queen has been in business since 1940 and has nearly 5,000 locations worldwide. You can't get enough of a good thing.

Whether you are a fan of soft serve/ frozen custard, this is the place. There is little difference from one DQ to the next but for size and cleanliness. I have found Florida DQ's to be generally clean but the product is always the same. Whether you prefer plain or dipped cones like me or sundaes, blizzards or other creations it still stands head and shoulders above the competition.

Dairy Queen has been around forever. My grandfather took me there when I a little kid more than 60 years ago. I have never had a better chocolate malt than the one that DQ makes. I always ask for extra malt!

We were there last month as we always do. Every time we are in the region we visit Dairy Queen. It is the best soft icecream in the USA. No doubt it. That is why we can call it the "SUPER DESERT" Always good quality and they maintain their standards of presenting their products. One suggestion: They should open more stores in the Miami area or in the malls.
