The first thing to know is that Marriott’s Legends Edge at Bay Point is not on the beach. Rather it sits in a gated community of private homes, two 18-hole golf courses, shops, restaurants and another resort. Panama City Beach is 20 minutes one way and Panama City 20 minutes in the other direction.

If you can stand to be removed from the beach action, but want to be busy, Legends Edge may be your place. At check in we were given a list of weekly activities. There was something happening almost every hour. Children’s activities and activities catering to adults. Happy hour most afternoons at the pool. There was local craft beer tastings and a wine and cheese reception.

Within walking distance is a pier with a restaurant at the end. A perfect place to have an adult beverage while watching the sunset. From the pier you can also visit Shell Island, a popular destination. The downside of visiting during the Christmas holiday is that the restaurant was closed as was Shell Island.

Since we were there over the chilly Christmas holiday, the large fire pit was popular. The pool was heated so it was well used. There was always a group of people in the large hot tub. The pool area also had corn hole, table tennis and other games available.

The Activities Staff – Mike, Steven and Katrina – were fantastic! They worked nonstop. The poured the wine and craft beer. They were the hosts for trivia and other group games. Twice during our stay they cooked hot dogs and burgers during lunch for the guests at a very reasonable price. It may have been cold, but they kept it warm and friendly. Kudos!

Our experience is that Marriott guests are a friendly lot. Legends Edge, for our week, attracted guests from all over the Midwest. Conversations were easy to start and by the end of our stay I felt as if I had made a number of new friends.

Marriott’s Legends Edge consists of two buildings, both overlooking the pool and activity area. We asked for and received a villa on an upper floor in the Bluebelle building. From our villa we had a perfect view of the fabulous Gulf Coast sunsets. We could watch the golfers go by and tell when it was Happy Hour. Parking is free, plentiful and convenient. Finding a luggage cart is not a problem.

Hoping for a return visit during warmer weather.

Room Tip: Asked for a villa on an upper floor of the Bluebelle building.

We stayed at Legends Edge during Xmas week. In the two preceding weeks we had visited Grande Vista and Lakeshore Reserve, both in Orlando. Legends Edge does not come up to par as the other two, but it is special in its own way. The location in a gated golfing community was superb. Its proximity to Highway 98 made entering and exiting Panama City Beach very easy, and shopping, restaurants and sightseeing were easily accessible. The front desk staff made our trip even more enjoyable. Kudos to Zach Evans & Menisa. With its location and hospitable team members, there is potential for Legends Edge to become a jewel within the Marriott Vacation Club. If the room furnishings could be updated to Marriott standards and more attention was paid to ensure that all of the activities took place as scheduled, then this little runt of a resort could excel.

We are Marriott Vacation Club weeks owners and tend to choose Marriott properties when we can because they are so nice. This 1 has all the pedigree but falls a little short. Location is a minus so they must strive to overcome it. All 2 bedroom units are a plus but we experienced real issues with overly sensitive smoke alarms that went off even if just baking biscuits in oven. Maintenance guy sent up to correct only tried battery changes that did not do anything. Caused us to stop cooking or burning small scented candles. Wine and cheese activity began late due to an excusable weather issue but ended on schedule. Flex with us. 1 central elevator for each of 2 large buildings may not be an issue but our unit was at farthest point away and 3rd floor. Blame ourselves because we asked for high floor. Check in at a little after 4 on Sunday was as blase as could be with the absolute minimum information offered by the desk clerk. We like the PCB area but there are reasons we have not come back to this MVC resort for some 15 years. Hope they try harder to make up for shortcomings.

This was our second visit, the first being 2 years ago. This one for 7 nights. Not much I can add from an earlier review. The amenities are first class and the staff is outstanding. Two staff members stood out. The concierge Debbie. She is very friendly and helpful. Ask her anything about the area and she can answer your questions. She was dead on with all the restaurant recommendations. Victoria in the activity group is very outgoing, bubbly and helpful. You couldn't ask for someone better in that area. As with all MVC facilities they have a ton of things to do if you want to stay on-site. We managed to spend most of every day around the pool. This is either the smallest MVC or one of the smallest. 2 6-story buildings and a total of 83 villas. The villas are all basically the same. 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, beautiful kitchen and a very large eating, sitting area. The main difference between the 2 buildings is the size of the balcony. The Bluebelle building has a larger balcony than the Azalea building. The layout of the eating/sitting area is different in the 2 buildings. You are no more than a 15 min drive from more excellent restaurants then you can eat at in a week.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 5th or 6th floor in the middle of the floor have the best overall views
