I don't know if it was a potential scam or not, but it seems there was not communication between Travelocity and the Resort. Travelocity accepted the credit card, but the resort continued to report that there was a balance on our account. It was all resolved, but it was frustrating nevertheless. Our room was changed to one different from that advertised on Travelocity; it was to our benefit, though. We had two bathrooms for 3 people. Reported that the light switch was whack, but they didn't seem to mind so our bathroom light was on 24/7??!! Kitchen area was adequate, but there wasn't enough silverware--only 3 spoons, for example. Buy some paper plates if you stop for groceries. Small eating area, but we lunched outside the room on the "veranda". Of greatest concern were the ants on the sink counter and the incredibly filthy floors. We asked for our floors to be wet-mopped as all of our soles turned black when we attempted to stay barefoot. Is it the dust from the driveway? the tile/flooring? I sat at the pool many days in the morning and while dangling my legs, the guy approached with his acid for maintaining the Ph balance. Gee, I guess it was time for me to up and move....20-30 minutes, he said. Other bathroom huge and accessible, but there weren't enough hooks or counter areas. The toilet rocked from its base on the floor. You could tell that an attempt was made at caulking it, but we were waiting for the base to leak. There was a faint sewage smell, and I guess it could be attributed to that. Also, the toilet paper roll inset is about an inch from the floor. Weird. Great potential here, but workers didn't seem to snatch the opportunities for improvement. Chairs and umbrellas are available to take to the beach--just a five minute hike down Donax--the street adjacent (on the west) to the resort. Bicycles are also available. You need to exchange your linens, which was fine. They are clean and fresh smelling. Internet is a bit slow, but it is available. Location is great. A friend noticed Anchor Inn on Air B&B--our room was listed at $343 a night. We sure wouldn't have been there if we had gone that route.
