Not too long a drive from the city, up close with birds....and gators. Enjoyable air boat tour shouldn't be missed, different every time. Also, enjoyed canopy walk.

The park was nice was surprised it did not have senior prices or Veterens discount. $6.00 each. Snack prices were expensive.

After arriving at Myakka State Park we purchased tickets for a air boat/tram adventure. The tram was very interesting and we had an excellent guide. Then we boarded the air boat for a most disappointing tour. Because of the high winds there were no alligators on the banks. The guides knew this even before we took off and since they knew this we felt it deceiving that they took our money anyway! We arrived by 10:00 am and the women bathrooms had not been cleaned. Two of the four stalls had no toilet paper and both soap dispensers were empty. We left the park at 3:00 and still there had been no changes in the restrooms. For all the participation at this park it leaves a lot to be desired.

This review is mainly for the nature trail and bridge. Note: it is a BIG park. If you want to do the airboat/tram tour(s), get there early, before they start to get tickets. We got there around 11 hoping for noon, but everything through about 2pm was sold out.

The nature trail is an easy 1-mile walk and we saw alligators, turtles, herons, and a deer from the tower. You can veer off from the trail to climb the tower. It's several flights of stairs and gets windy, so be prepared. Only four people on the bridge at one time. Not too scary. :-)

Also note -- there is ONE cafe nestled back by the ticket area. If you are hungry and/or don't have a lot of time for lunch... this is not the place for you. :-) They are hustling for sure, but it is SUPER crowded and takes some time.

The hike to the deep hole is 2.2 miles but well worth the hike. We saw 43 alligators but it was early in the morning. I think there are more and more as the day warms up, we went in March. The park only issues 30 passes a day to the deep hole so you must get there at 8 am if you really want to see it.
