Campground is not set up correctly, most are on edges of steep drop offs.views are ok on some sites.Store is not setup for campers. They charge for everything you choose to do including the beach area. Parking for beach and water park is on steep hills you walk down but then have to walk up. The people that rented golf carts still had to park them in the same lot as us. Not worth the money, we will not be back.

As we approached the front gate in our 40' RV, we were impressed by the grand entry. A gentleman came out of the booth and told us that he would not be charging us the usual entrance fee of $20 since the computers were down. WHAAAAAT? An entrance fee in addition to the cost of spending the night. Huh. Anyway we had just left a BEAUTIFUL resort on Hilton Head Island, trees, plants, tennis courts, pickle ball, heated pool, biking/walking to restaurants. So to be fair, we knew nothing would compare. The name should have alerted me that this is a party place!! My fault for thinking it was a resort. The grounds are meticulously kept and the people are friendly but, if you want to get around you really need a golf cart. The grounds are incredibly large and the lots are really close without the possibility of any privacy. The lot in front of us was rented to a family that came with a festival tent, a smoker and various chairs to accommodate a family reunion. In this case 3 RV's with trailers and golf carts. All cool, but not expected. The website states no tents but we now have to assume no camping tents. We paid a higher price for the lake view but the music was so loud from the party that we where unable to sit outside and still be able to chat. This went on until 10:55pm. As for food, drove by every establishment all to see that they were closed. I called the office to ask about finding food and she said "The Land Shark is open but they had power and computer problems so they were closed but I think they're open now." It's a bit of a hike to the restaurant so since we didn't see anyone there, we left the resort and ate in town. A lovely place on the water called Fish Tales. Good food, great service. No one at Margaritaville mentioned that this is off season and most, if not all the amenities(restaurants) are closed. The website states that the restaurants are open from 11:30-9
All and all, Margaritaville is a party place that would be fun with kids during the day but probably not a place where you would want to spend the night.

It's sad that specific types of RV are no allowed at some parks, with the name Margaritaville and associated with Jimmy Buffet you would think it would have a different attitude on truck campers, guarantee our camper is just as nice as some of the pull behind/fifth wheels in the park, less then 4 years old is in great condition. Private park, your rules, we'll just keep going down the road. This is not a truck camper friendly park, and they had 83 RV sites open during this period of time, according to the web site.

Our family spent New Year’s eve here and had a blast! The staff is extremely friendly and very accommodating. Be sure to rent your golf cart in advance and tour the property. Although it rained, the kids had fun and the RV locations were very nice. The bathrooms near the RV hook ups had nice showers and it was clean. You pay a little more but it’s worth it.

Decided to spend Thanksgiving together (our family of three) in an RV at the Margaritaville Resort. We were at site 123 and it was a great location. We arrived on Wednesday and departed Sunday without any problems. We even decided to rent the golf carts for three days during our stay to allow us a chance to see the Christmas festivities/lights. The RV sites are awesome, our spot had a picnic table and fire pit which was a nice touch.... we really enjoyed the amenities during the evenings. Everything was perfect during our stay, I'm so glad that we chose to spend the holiday at Lake Lanier -- we'll certainly do it again.
