this joint has been here since, well since the railroad first went by or close. they do a good job of keeping the shine on it though. do yourself a favor and sit at the bar and watch they prepare your chili dog. i bet they can crank out 20 a minute if not more. the chili is thin, goes on a spoonful at a time, not so much poured as laid on or anointed. you can feel the love though. they make a fine product here, take pride in what they do and love their customers as much as their customers love them. danger if you try to eat 3 you might not come back. never mind the train, they'll let you know when it's safe to go.

Realize what the place is. This is not health food, no gluten free options. This is pork hot dogs, chili, rings, fries etc. clothespin on your aorta kind of food.
excellent for what it is. I had chili slaw dogs (mustard, onions, chili, slaw). Chile is spicy enough to have a bite but not just hot for the sake of doing so and bean free. I also had rings which were very good. Crunchy and not too much batter.
Enjoy.

this place is unique. they have been serving the best in hot chili dogs here since the war. yes that war, maybe before. smack dab in the railroad tracks. they have their own rail road barriers at entrance and exit, so if a train is going by while you are trying to arrive or leave take a dose of patience. chili is hot, and will leave you with something to remember it by later on, but it;s good. they have a system here, and they have perfected it. i bet they could churn out 100 chili dogs in 10 minus. fast friendly service, and delicious apple pi

The plain chili dog was ok, I like spicy chili so that wasn't a problem. The dogs are small and the weiners are kinda cheap. The slaw dog didnt make it any better, it just countered out the spice. The slaw isn't real good. I had the burger too just to see if this was a hidden gem, but no, skip the burger. Onion rings are good, and the price you cant complain. It's a dive. I'm not going to complain much but i really don't see what is the big deal. it's just ok.
