A most comfortable stay...

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 17 Sept 2018
Another pleasant overnight on our trip down the Canal du Garonne. Room comfortable, although prone to gravel being brought in from the forecourt (!) Nice pool - a welcome sight after a long, hot day on the bikes. Restaurant a little fussy, but the food was excellent. Our slumbers were interrupted by a cat jumping in to our room through the open window, but other than that, we emerged well rested. Nice breakfast, can't really go wrong here.

Thanks for your feedback on TripAdvisor. We are pleased that you enjoyed the food, breakfast and our pool.
We are sorry for the jumping cat, it's certainly comming from the neighbourhood as we do not have any cat. It's seems that the cat enjoys our facilities, as much as yourself :)
Hope to see you at the Prince Noir in an other time.
Best Regards,

We stopped for lunch (made a reservation) and spent a few wonderful hours in the garden eating delicious food and creating happy memories. There are 3 price choices for the set menu and then a la carte items. The prices are a little higher than other restaurants along the canal de garonne but the quality of the food is as well. Fresh and innovative choices beautifully presented. Everything we ordered was a hit- goat cheese and salmon, duck, and crudités vegetables, followed by lamb shank, prawns and duck breast. Desserts included local prunes stewed in a wine-armagnac sauce and meringue/Chantilly/coffee armagnac cream. Needless to say it was very hard to choose. My descriptions don’t do the food justice. Check out their pictures and menu online. We hope one day to come again.

...can often be how they deal with things that go wrong.
We had dinner here. My spinach and egg starter was masterful. However the duck, which I ordered medium was actually so over cooked it was black on the underside. When I pointed this out to the waitress she attempted to tell me that this was the skin and was supposed to be like that. I then queried why the knife provided could not cut through it and that I could not eat it. She grudgingly removed it. However, the lady running front of house did come and apologise and my dish was returned, minus the garnishes together with a sharp knife.
So, a curate's egg, good in parts. The wine list was good, the decor and ambience fine, if a little dark. Would I return? Probably not.

This is a regular stop on our yearly travels. This is our 4th night this years. Initially we were a little disappointed to be offered the same set menu as on the first night of a 2 night stay. When we queried this we were immediately offered an alternative choice from the cart menu. Both meals were superb.

The old convent building is sensational. It immediately creates a brilliant atmosphere. The staff were efficient but quite transactional. No real warmth. An ok gym and a good pool added to the positives. Dinner outside was very good. The room was very small but the real problem is lack of aircon. It had been over 30 degrees for several days so the place was very hot and lack of aircon made it a tough nights sleep. The bed was one of the smallest ive slept in but I suppose it had to be to fit into the room. Overall...a great atmosphere but the poor nights sleep marked this one down.

We enjoyed our stay but it was all a bit pretentious, especially the food. The rooms were a bit past their best. Loads of cotton buds but a bit light on basics such as shampoo which, if you're travelling light, you need.

Room tip: Ours was onto a central, scenic courtyard with our own front door. Very quiet village and setting.
