We visited here as part of a walking tour of the downtown area, and wound up spending the lion's share of our tour here. The building and grounds are attractive and well-kept, and we learned a lot about Idaho history.

We had a good time looking around here. It was a nice day and our friends who live in Boise were able to provide a running commentary on various aspects of the building and the politicians that have come and gone through there!

We did a self tour of this magnificent 1905 building and enjoyed every floor. We found a tour book when we entered on what was the second floor. I would advise anyone to go to the bottom floor (or Garden floor) first where the information area is. You can pick up a booklet there and view several videos about the building. We had gone to all other floors first so did not take the time to view the videos which would have been nice. There are other displays on this floor as well giving you the history and the functions of the chambers which is good information for students. It was renovated in 2007 and it is a marvelous structure and beautifully kept up and decorated. The marble is gorgeous. Government was not in session so we're able to see the House and Senate chambers which are lovely. There's a beautiful gilded statue of George Washington on horseback that is a must see. Definitely worth a visit and you can go as slow or fast as you want.

Only had 30 minutes here- came in the front doors and looked around by ourselves.
Very impressive and easy to see the similarities with the US Capitol Building.
Inside top of dome painted with 43 stars against a rule background- very pretty.
Plenty of informational signs inside to tell of history and to show a few little pieces of history such as pocket watches or similar belongings to past governors or some of the tools used to cut the stones.
The grounds are well landscaped and cared for. It's one of the more scenic grounds of US capitols that I have seen.
We didn't do the scavenger tour but reviewed the checklist- many easy things to figure out or spot but unless you are on the tour you might miss most of the more obscure or Idaho specific.

They claim that the Idaho State Capitol building is patterned after the US Capitol, and after visiting it, we certainly agree. We loved walking around the building and looking at all of the beautiful marble everywhere. And looking up into the dome from the lowest floor makes a great picture. The capitol has all of the beauty of the US Capitol, but you can enjoy the beauty of the building without all of the horrendous crowds that you deal with in DC.
