We have actually stayed here twice in the last month. Our most recent stay was June 30, 2010. We had 4 adults and 5 children. We stayed in the the larger apartment. It was a wonderful experienec. Very clean, very spacious.
We asked if we could have a later check out for the next day, and were asked "Would 3:00 be ok?" The owners are just nice people who go out of their way to make you feel right at home.
Very close to the pool, hot springs, and place to eat.
We just had a great time.

My husband and I had spent our 6th wedding anniversary at the Alpaca Inn. I reserved the room a month in advance and was treated very kindly by the owners. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a cozy, warm room. The room was very inviting and clean. The bedside lamp was even turned on for us! The owners were very, very nice and helpful. It was our first time in Lava Hot Springs and I am pretty sure that the Alpaca Inn is THE best place to stay! The room was equipped with very personal touches like throw pillows (and at least 2 other kinds of pillows to try) and a drink basket with coffee, hot chocolate and teas. I would recommed this quaint little place to anyone and hopefully next time we are headed to Lava, it won't be completely booked!!

We came down to Lava Hot Springs from Montana during an unusually warm weekend in April this year. Instead of staying at one of the older hotels that have hot water in house, we decided to stay at the Alpaca Inn and walk to the newly remodeled public pools. It was one of the most relaxing fun vacations mainly due to the ideal accomodations we found at the Alpaca Inn. The rooms are well appointed, the proprietors are very nice, the price is right, and all of the amenities are within a short walk of a few blocks. The Alpaca Inn provides bistro tables in the courtyard so after soaking we could enjoy an "aperitif pour deux" right next to the room. It was a perfect spring break for us. We selected the Alpaca Inn because of the reviews on this site. And we don't agree with the otherwise expressed idea that a few blocks is too far to walk. If you can't walk a couple of blocks you could always take your car. The parking is good everywhere.

After reading all the reviews we chose to stay here. It was not really what we would call within walking distance of the lava pools...during winter. It is 4 or 5 blocks. The mattress was of poor quality or needed to be replaced. The televison was in a really poor location if more than one person wanted to watch tv. The bathroom was cold. No heat in there. We found the reviews misleading. Maybe we are just used to nicer motels for the money. Owners were very freindly, we would agree.

The Alpaca Inn is the best place we've stayed in Lava Hot Springs. Not only is it clean and comfortable, it is cute and in a great location. Just blocks away from the hot pools (walking distance even in the winter) and right across the street from the Blue Moon bar. We enjoyed a quiet and cozy stay at the Alpaca Inn. The staff was wonderful to work with. They are very helpful and flexible. We were very pleased with this small but wonderful hotel.
