This very small restaurant was almost deserted on a Friday noon time, though several people picked up takeout orders. All three of us ordered lunch specials for $6.95 each. It included soup, crab rangoon or egg rolls, plus a choice of about eight main courses. I had the miso soup, crab rangoon, and Pad Thai--all good and generously sized servings.

Twice we had problems with seating at a destination Filipino restaurant. My friend, a tad frustrated, recommenced this unassuming spot on Elston Avenue. The room was pleasant, not very large, tastefully decorated. My friend ordered a fresh roll--I have made the Vietnamese type, so I was looking for the shrimp. The dumplings were probably frozen--there was no clear boundary between filling and shell. A bit like chewing gum. The orange shrimp had the same slightly gummy better. My friend a a very flavorful chicken with vegetables--a bit sweet. Our server was personable and friendly. Not a memorable dinner, nor a particularly bad one. Just that odd texture of the dumplings...

My husband and I live in the neighborhood and swore off Thai Thai in the past. When we saw the signs out front announcing "under new management," we through we'd come back to give it a try. I often judge a Thai restaurant by how colorful the food is. I think it's a way to gauge the freshness of the vegetables and the custom cooking the dish received instead of sitting on a hot table all afternoon. My ginger chicken and my husband's spicy basil chicken were both fresh, colorful, with enough crunch and texture to make it a mouth-pleasing experience. All the meat was ultra fresh, which I found otherwise to be an issue in a few other Thai restaurants. The decor is still relatively simple with the exception of an Ed Passke-like painting on one wall. The bathroom is hip, however, with interesting color block walls and panels. We will certainly be back and may also order carry-out for meals at home in the future. Recommended!

Thai Thai has been my spot for great Thai for over 5 years. I came by some weird coincidence when I worked in the neighborhood and haven't been able to find anything better. There are many Thai restaurants I have tried) and maybe only one other restaurant came close to measuring the authenticity of Thai Thai. I have found no better Pad Thai in the city and their other dishes are all wonderful. I am a vegetarian that eats seafood and they have no problems working around my requests.

Over the years I have brought many people to Thai Thai and never has it disappointed. The staff is wonderful, friendly, and always warm. I can't say enough good things about Thai Thai.
