I have been here a few times and I love going anytime I'm in the Elmhurst area. It is kind of small and a good way to kill a couple hours, but definitely not an all day thing. However, it is visual overload. I'm no geologist, but seeing the different minerals and stones and the art they create with it is amazing! Very intricate and different kind of art. Definitely a unique museum. Their gift shop is really cute, too. Admission is free on Fridays, otherwise it's only like $5 to enter. Definitely worth seeing if you are in the area. I've heard they're moving so I'm excited to see what the new location brings!

If you have ever been to the geological exhibits at the Field museum, you’ll love them, but it’ll feel like nothing compared to the wonders of the Lizzadro Museum. The upstairs area simply blew me away, with everything from intricate Asian sculptures to petrified oak butterflies. The model of the castle is absolutely insane! The animal dioramas are also very cool, and bring out the creativity of lapidary art. The imperial screen shows you a whole new perspective on rock art. The downstairs area was also cool, with a light up map of Illinois and more hands-on exhibits. The gift shop is also clean and well stocked. There are some things that would enhance the experience, however, more information panels would be helpful for those kinds of people. And in case you were wondering, you are allowed to take pictures. Go to this one of a kind gallery!

Amazing collection of gems and lapidary art. Carved animals in their natural settings are a real attraction for children. Quite an impressive collection from all over the world.

I am not a big fan of museums, so I hesitated about going to this one. However, I was very pleasantly surprised. It is not a huge museum, so unless you want to read everything in detail, it is an east 90 minute to 2 hour visit. The entrance fee is very reasonable plus they have student and senior discounts.

They have extremely informative videos in the lower level and a very kid-friendly exhibit down there, showing Illinois and Wisconsin rock formations, and fossils, as well as dioramas using gem stone carvings.

Great place for real geology buffs or just families with mixed interests, plus a very reasonably priced gift shop.

Great easy trip to see something real unique in a nice location. Easy to get to and an easy trip. There are some real beautiful exhibits. You can easily spend a few hours or half a day in this museum. My kids loved it. 7,9,13and15. I remember going frequently when I was a kid. Definately worth checking out, especially on a nice day. You can combine with a split day at the art museum with a picnic in Wilder Park.
