This is the place for you if you're into trees and love taking long walks among the trees. A different experience than the Chicago Botanical Gardens, and much easier to get to, in my opinion. They just had their lights among the trees for the holidays which is a must see, at least once. I got a membership and have enjoyed being able to just show up and walk among all the beautiful varieties of trees. They do have a staff of arborists if you have any tree questions.

Visitors of all ages will enjoy interacting with Siberian sled dogs when Husky Heroes returns to The Morton Arboretum, January 27 and 28, 2018. There will be sledding demonstrations and lots of dogs to see. There will be tons of people to advise you about adopting and owning a Husky. For this event you can not bring your dog but there will be plenty of dogs there to pet and take pictures of. We have been there many times before and it is well organized, the people are well informed about Huskies and other dogs and willing to share what they know. The Staff of the Arboretum is always helpful and even without the dogs there is plenty to see and do. Bring your warmest clothes and hiking boots. There are a couple of places to buy food, rest facilities and places to warm up between walks. Paths are easy to walk and nicely kept. Large area set aside for kids to play in. The perfect afternoon for the family.

We've been here during the summer and now the winter (for the Winter Illumination). Both times we've loved it. I was taken back by the cost to walk through a small part of the arboretum during the winter but after doing it, it was well worth the cost. The lights are beautiful. We went as a group and the adults and kids enjoyed it (even though it was close to 0 degrees). There are warming stations and fire pits along the way so you can warm up with a drink (adult drinks too) or by the fire.

This is a spectacular holiday light show that uses all the trees as background/support for the fabulously innovative light show. Some are partnered with music, and all are breathtaking. It is an easy 1 mile walk, but bundle up...it was 1 degree F when we walked it. There are bonfires and warming huts along the way.
