Second time to Illumination. Your enjoyment is weather contingent. First visit 2 years ago, went with my 10 year old son and 75 year old Father during Thanksgiving weekend. We were excited however, the weather was Awful! Rainy, cold drizzle mist. Since you must pre-pay and order advanced tickets, with no refunds... we powered through. This year, we had an unusually calm, warmer evening week before Christmas. Much more enjoyable. Actually stopped at displays and highlight for us was the Breathing Tree LED light displays. A must see in technology and color lights to emulate the cluster of tall pines trees have come alive and are inhaling and exhaling. Absolute hit for the Arboretum display engineers.

An incredible place to go all four seasons. If you are in the area you should just get a season's pass, it is more than worth it.

This was a great opportunity for some wholesome and safe family entertainment at the fantastic Morton Arboretum. The kids and adults enjoyed the walk and light show on an unseasonably comfortable evening. Make sure you purchase your tickets online. The crowd is controlled by restricting the number of tickets in each time slot.

I went with a group to this Illumination show at the Morton Arboretum in December of 2017. The show was amazing and the walk around the park was a little over a mile. Lots to see and the crowd was great. I recommend this for a holiday event for any family, couple, or group of people.

It was still a little cold to be out walking around with the kids, so we decided on just visiting the train exhibit that they had on one side of the visitor center. Though it wasn't the largest set-up, there were more than enough trains in the layout. There were several interactive buttons around the layout which made it fun for the kids. There was one train wreck - poor Thomas, but it seemed like the kids enjoyed watching everything. I would say this much, however, since we were only doing the train exhibit, the price seemed a bit high to get in.
