The Yellow Side Car B & B was the best b & b we have ever stayed at. Hosts Brenda and Roger were both very sweet, warm and welcoming. They definitely enjoy their visitors. Location was excellent and on the western side of Cape Breton overlooking the ocean. Roger was a wealth of information, at the very least, letting us know the time of sunset each day, which we would watch, weather permitting, along with him sharing stories about the area, hiking trails, building codes, where and when to get Nova Scotia strawberries, etc. Brenda's scones were amazing, as was the rest of the breakfast. The room was bright and clean with a pleasant ocean breeze. We had the pleasure of staying at the Yellow Sidecar B & B for 5 nights. We definitely would return. We began missing Brenda & Roger as we were pulling away.

The moment you walk into Roger and Brenda’s home you will feel like you’ve arrived and are with friends! I was welcomed with warm hospitality and good cheer (pretty much the norm in Nova Scotia, by the way), and immediately felt “at home.” My room was comfy and spacious with an en suite half-bath, and a full bath/shower on the main level. A very hearty breakfast is served that will power you through a good portion of your day. (The smell of homemade scones baking in the oven will gently wake you from good and quiet slumber long before the breakfast table is set!) The location of the B&B is an ideal base for exploration near and far. My “near” adventures included poking around Cheticamp; eating delicious pastries and sandwiches from La Boulangerie Aucoin; and savoring a fabulous “take out” meat pie from Aucoin’s Meat Pies and Pâtés. My “far” adventures included a drive to (and hike of) the Skyline Trail; a further drive to Pleasant Bay and Gampo Abbey; and an afternoon spent looking for sea glass at Inverness beach. The “at home” part of all of this is enjoying the view from the front porch (sweeping vista of the Atlantic); watching the hummingbirds at the feeder (if you’re lucky); and the wonderful and spirited conversation that you will have with Roger and Brenda. I learned so much about the local culture and history! They also shared some of their favorite spots to visit on Cape Breton, which turned out to be among some of my favorites too. This was the perfect place for me and I’m betting it will be perfect for you, too.

Located near the Cabot Trail and a short drive from Cheticamp. The owners were very friendly and had many suggetions for places to visit. The breakfasts were amazing. The room was a little small but we were never there for very long.

This little gem of a place is absolutely fantastic. Brenda and Roger are fantastic hosts. Extremely clean rooms. Their breakfasts are better than what you would receive in a 5 star restaurant.
We will be going back!
