Recent road trip brought us near Plainfield and the Uptown seemed to be the place. Mid day on a Sunday, the patio was full but the interior deserted. Craving the air conditioned comfort we chose indoors.

The burgers were good, not great, though the chips were fantastic. The beer list seemed long, but we found little of interest.

All in all it was a fine lunch stop but not anything worth an out of the way trip

OMG the Bruschetta, I have family members that make great bruschetta, but this was awesome, we could have made our entire meal this item. I am bummed I didn't take a pic, but we were so hungry. it's a garlic toast with mozzarella cheese melted then the great tomatoes seasoned perfectly and balsamic on top.... wow. Service was also great at this place. We will have to try and make it back soon.

Pretentious?, Not by a long shot. Comfortable? Yep. Casual? Ditto. Just a cool, laid back, village tavern with the expected regulars sidled up to the bar, most likely several Harleys out front, everyone welcome. Live bands on weekends, great bar food, burgers, sandwiches, nachos. Local, family business. It's exactly what you think it is, if you've ever known a midwest towny bar. Classic, well at home on Route 66.

Went for lunch with a coworker. This was the first time visiting Uptown. The server was very attentive and provided good service. The food greatly surpassed what I had expected, both in terms of quality and quantity! We arrived just before the lunch time rush on a Friday. This was a good thing, as they began to fill up quickly.

Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting good food at a good price point, as well as a good environment.

Will surely be returning!

We stopped here for the first time on a Sunday afternoon. I got the Ruben sandwich with the best sweet potato fries I've ever had. The corned beef was lean and delicious piled high on fresh marble rye. My husband raved about the juicy hamburger and fresh cut fries. We also had the soups which were savory and reminiscent of mom's slowly simmered comfort food.
Our server contributed greatly to our enjoyment by her friendly and professional efficiency.
We really didn't expect so much from a casual local sports bar but we are looking forward to returning again and again.
