Thank you once again for the best food and best hospitality! We have been there many times and this time we took our Italian friend to dine..he really had a great time. Food was really interesting and delicious. The place is always full, service was very attentive and friendly with Mr Russo. He made us very welcomed. The ambience is relaxing. Will definitely recommend and would come back again and again. The bill was around $100.- with a bottle of wine and some more glasses of wine later, one bottle wasn't quite enough for 3 people.

We were looking for decent restaurant near Enmore theatre and was drawn in by Russo & Russo's menu. Glad we made a booking and advised them that we had a show after dinner. The reservation staff over the phone and the wait staff were extremely helpful, courteous and attentive. Excellent customer service but it didn't just stop there. The pre-theatre meal (4-course meal) was mouth-watering and something to rave about. Each course reflected and represented different types of Italian cuisine ranging from pickled sardines, beetroot risotto to battered eggplant with dark chocolate. My first thought was these are strange combinations of ingredients but we were definitely wowed by each course. The evening truly was a gastronomic delight!

The lovely staff fitted my friend and I in at 6pm on a Saturday at the last moment and as always we had a brilliant night. The $60 menu is great value and I’m still dreaming about the beetroot risotto and the fabulous cherry cocktail. Such wonderful staff, a great buzz and delicious food. It’s my go to Sydney restaurants, see you again soon

One look at the menu and its prices and it's either going to be great or very ordinary. We were seated upstairs and began to take in the ambience. First we noticed the wine bottles that sat atop a mantle where candles were allowed to drip naturally for 2 years. Apparently downstairs the candles already had a 3 year headstart. Mmm interesting. Photos on the wall were of a religious theme to the point the toilets were labeled Jesus and Mary..hmmm.
OK the menu. For a non Italian it was difficult to understand. Prices were up there. It was suggested to go for the chefs shared menu at $50 per head. We were able to change it up a bit. Wine selection was...extravagant.
Appetizers came out in the form of a potato Rossi with a duck filling I think. Hmmm..meh.
Zucchini flowers..hmmm..meh.
Entree, a beetroot risotto...wow, beautiful accompanied with a basil pesto pasta...undercooked, tough, not favourable to the palette.
Mains two chicken dishes, mmm...meh.
Dessert...wow.
Staff were attentive and polite, difficult menu, extravagant wine selection, ordinary meals (small) $250.
Hard to rate higher than a 3 for this italian restaurant that came up a the no.1 search result...hmmm.

Long term resident of area, wanted to try this place for a while. I finally did last week.

Upon walking in I was getting excited, the place looks great. Warm, inviting and well fitted out. We were seated upstairs which is the better area.

We sat down and were presented the menu by a less than enthused staff member. We saw the Chefs menu, a 5 course pairing with wine. We went for it.

Now for the price, $250 for two, there is an expectation of quality and service. The food quality was good, modern Italian fare. But quite frankly, nothing memorable. The beetroot risotto was the one dish that I do recall as being great. As well as not memorable, the quantity is is questionable. Dishes are served as small sharing plates. Also you have to ask for a fresh plate in between each course. Very unusual for the price range.

The wine pairings were clumsy at best. In one case (the beetroot risotto), outright mismatched. I could see the attempt, a fruit forward berry and spice red with a beetroot risotto - but seriously it was way too tannic to even come close to matching.

Then there was the service. 5 words about each dish/wine with a completely disengaged demeanor. We constantly had the feeling of being rushed, which is expected when the next glass is placed down and the following wine poured whilst i'm still drinking the previous ?

Overall I applaud the attempt, maybe on another night it may shine a bit more but that night it completely missed the mark.
