Right off the highway and close to everything. I booked king with sofa sleeper because we actually use the sleeper on occasion. We've had bad experiences with them before. As we settled in, we checked out the sleeper and it was typically uncomfortable. What was awesome was the end result from the staff. Angie and crew brought in brand new mattress covers (2 of them) as well as additional bedding to make what would have been a bad situation into a great scenario.

The hotel itself was a great surprise. Swim-through pool (indoor/outdoor), high wooden ceilings, lots of seating around fireplace, hotel was clean, well-kept and some of the rooms overlook a river/park setting. Breakfast and newspaper in the morning (a little disappointed that there was a charge for breakfast as there's no need for that anymore). Being off the highway, hotel was still quiet. Mini-frig, coffee, microwave. Good amount of towels. Large desk area. Great staff - Very nice.

Room Tip: Odd number side overlooks river. Far enough away from ice machine and lobby. Close to back stairs (no elevators)

We wound up needing to stay near Crown Point for one night for work. Booked this due to price and I was honestly slightly nervous. We'd never stayed in a Clarion before.

There is nothing at all fancy here, but I loved the location of this hotel. A little off the path of all the other hotels and tucked against trees and a small lake/pond.

The room was smaller, but good enough. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was very clean. We had a view of the pond and it was a nice dark sleep, which I love.

There is no free breakfast and no fridge or microwave in room. That's a little odd to me at this price point, but was not a huge issue.

Overall a really good option for the price.

My wife and I planned a 3 night stay. We liked the room, but couldn't believe the noise from a large rowdy group staying there. The yelling and laughing was so loud you could not have a normal conversation in the foyer area. At night it was no better. Children running and yelling down the hall ways. Adults talking loudly, and laughing in the halls at 1:30 in the morning. The icing on the cake??? Men smoking pot outside the front doors. We left after the 2nd night. I don't understand why hotel management allows some to ruin the stay for all. Will look for a different hotel in Merrillville next time.
