Stay here several times a year when on business. Always clean. Tried another hotel one time - Rain Tree down the road - couldn't get out there fast enough. Went back to Steve Alford that same night. This is the only place to stay in New Castle!

I always compare this hotel to meatloaf. It is not fancy. Some people may look down on the lack of pizzaz. However, this hotel will deliver a solid stay. If you want fancy, go to downtown Indy and pay their prices. Here you will get a decent room in a nice building for way less than you would any other place!

You can't book online, it has to be over the phone. The entrance is behind the Steak n Shake. There is a eight foot high blue basketball shoe out front. Sounds chic, huh?

I have always found friendly people manning the front desk. The rooms are clean. The bathroom is a little on the small side, but everything works.

I have stayed here a number of times, and will come back again and again, because, dammit, I like meatloaf!

It was a pleasure to see a clean hotel room at this price. And, I'm am very particular about clean rooms. The bed was nice and comfortable. The only thing they might want to invest in is a better brand of coffee with liquid cream instead of powder.

We stopped here on a long cross-country drive knowing that there were few of our "normal" hotel selections in this town. The hotel is one of the first off the interstate and on a snowy night, it was a welcome respite. It is a "no-frills" place--the first on our trip that didn't have a hairdryer in the room and little things like hooks missing in the bathroom set it apart from our other stops. However, the king bed was very comfy and the decor pleasing and the room exceptionally clean. I've been wanting to write a review for a "quirky" hotel, and this one definitely fits that bill with all the basketball memorabilia in the lobby. Interestingly, Steve Alford's first win as a Div I coach was against our home team, UConn, so we're unlikely to forget the name of this place.

Room Tip: Nothing of note. We were so dead-tired, we could have fallen asleep in the lobby.

This was just what we needed, and at the lower price we needed while we were in town with family last week. Everyone was so nice and helpful from reservations, to check in/out. Rooms were large and I liked having the sink separate from the toilet/shower. We rented 3 rooms and all were clean, but one did smell like smoke. Beds were comfy and the towels were even nice for a budget motel. Breakfast area was small, but they had coffee/tea/orange juice and toast, donuts and oatmeal. Just what we needed to get awake and going. We will definitely stay here when visiting again.
