I try to keep these short. Very nice rooms however they are a little small. The rooms have awesome beds, microwaves and fridges at this motel. The motel is getting remodeled in different areas so some of the hallways and breakfast areas are a work in progress. Seating is limited in the breakfast area (at least during construction ). The breakfast is basic (no sausage, bacon, eggs or anything like that). The staff was great and it's nice to be able to walk to Old Chicago across the parking lot and a few other restaurants within a block or two. **FYI, t he pool and it's area is small so don't be deceived by the pics on the website.

I had stayed 2 nights at a nearby competitor. Although the parking lot had few vehicles the staff refused to give me the rate in place. I then contacted the Heartland Inn. The staff volunteered to do what the other staff refused to do.

I am certainly glad I contacted the Heartland. The room was large, bright and well furnished. There were a microwave and refrigerator which is handy. Although, there are many restaurants within walking distance.

One of the staff even assisted with my zipper that I had closed on the cloth of my coat.

Room Tip: Tell staff you need a refrigerator and microwave. Make sure the refrigerator is functional. There are rooms with and without desks.

We were looking for an affordable room in Iowa City for a quick weekend stay and decided to try the Heartland Inn. It was very affordable and about what we expected. The room was comfortable but worn and dated. Some revisions have been made but it could use a complete overhaul. There was a lot of noise from adjoining rooms so if you are looking for peace and quiet, this may not be the best place for you. For the price, it was a good deal. If you are planning on spending a great deal of time in your room, you may want to upgrade to a nicer location.

Room Tip: This hotel is generally busy. Choose a room on the top floor to avoid as much noise from other rooms as possible.

Have stayed here a great deal over the last 1.5 years, due to child in hospital. Hospital rates are decent, but wouldn't stay here at full price. Rooms are ok, but that's it. TV works sometimes, place reeks of smoke, even in non-smoking rooms. Seems that employees smoke so they don't make a fuss about others smoking in nonsmoking rooms....nothing like entering a cigarette infused atmosphere when you're not a smoker. Lots of construction workers, drinking & smoking all over. Place backs to river with decent fishing. Plenty of close food choices, most of which are average. Very convenient to the hospital & athletic complexes. Some staff ok, but most are not-so-much. Breakfast is carb heavy and average as well.

The staff was fantastic dealing with the large block of rooms reserved for a 2016 New Year's Eve wedding. The hotel shuttled the guest from the hotel to the wedding/reception and back to the hotel after the wedding.

Sunday morning the wedding party and family were allowed to have a conference room for breakfast and for opening the wedding gifts.

Dear ldeck13,
Thank you so much for the excellent review. Heartland Inn focuses on making the bride and groom's wedding day stress free. It is great to hear that we were successful at that. I am happy that the shuttle service worked out for everyone as well. I also want to mention that your family was a complete delight. From the time your family members checked in until they departed, it was a joy to have your wedding guests with Heartland Inn.
Once again, thank you for taking the time to review your stay. We appreciate it!!
