It's not fancy, but was clean and had a big bathroom and comfortable beds. The price was good, it had a microwave and fridge, and it fit our needs for a place to sleep for a few hours on a road trip. If we needed to stay longer, I wouldn't have wanted it to be here.

While exploring Des Moines, I stayed at this Econo Lodge based on the reviews and price. I found parking to be plentiful at least when I came, and the guy at the front desk was very kind and even baked cookies. The rooms were not the nicest but just fine for a night stay with all your necessities. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I found the breakfast area to be awkward. The food was served in a tiny space and the variety was average. Overall, I found Econo Lodge to be a great choice for a few nights stay while on a budget. This hotel could use a few updates, and the staff was very friendly.

The hotel was ran down a bit, but it was clean. The staff was friendly and nice and the pool was well chlorinated..like way chlorinated that it made your allergies set off. Food was decent. Only problem we were woke up by the sounds if trains at least 3 times during the night.

My friends and I like to stay here for weekend getaways (we live a few hours away). The staff is always friendly and accommodating. The breakfast is fine. They have coffee and ice water and usually cookies in the lobby. The pool and hot tub are a nice perk for the low price of this hotel. There are a couple fun, low-key bars in the area. We always come back to the EconoLodge!

I participated in a trade show at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. This EconoLodge is right across the street from the Fairgrounds, SO convenient! Checked in around 945pm, front desk guy was every bit as professional as any high end hotel. He was most thorough and friendly even though front desk was very busy. Parking kind of a problem, not enough space if hotel is full. Key card doesn't always work but quickly rectified. Room was clean and comfortable with fridge & microwave. Hallways were nice & quiet. Great place for the price.

Room Tip: King room has nice sitting area & pull out couch.
