La Mie is a favorite of mine and I stop there whenever I go to or through Des Moines! When you walk in the door you will know why~~all the delicious baked goods are right there for you to see! Love everything I have ever had there!

Whether you're looking for sweet or savory, you'll find it here. In a small quaint ped mall. Parking in rear as well as in front. Near interstate 235.

Had poached eggs with toast, egg whites with spinach and avocado.

The food was good, the avocado was a little old and the toast was extra tough, but you might like that.

Mint tea was good, French roast coffee was the best of the options.

The cakes and pastries looked amazing and I think this is La Mie's strongpoint.

Dsm doesn't have a ton of bakeries...but this one makes up for it. They offer great pastries..and sandwiches. It's busy..so prepare yourself for that... But it is delicious. Make a stop!!!

Second time here, this time for breakfast. They had a wide variety of pastries (croissant, tartes, pies) self-service style and dishes à la carte, like omelette and toast. I ordered the smoked salmon omelette and got a croissant, and they were both really good. My gf had an aspargus and brie omelette and enjoyed it, although thinking it had too much brie. They also have sandwiches, french macarons and a variety of coffee. It is a place we come back to since it's right by the cheese shop we like. Definitely recommended.
