Hotel Julien is still as wonderful and beautiful as ever! We stayed in a hot tub room and it was wonderful to relax and soak in a luxurious but comfortable big room. Everything was immaculate, the room was perfectly quiet, the bed was great, everything was wonderful. We had drinks in the bar and it was packed. But the staff were keeping up with everyone. We sat out on the roof patio with our drinks overlooking the river. Parking is a breeze and free. There are so many comfortable, private lobby spaces on 2 floors to relax and read or work, that you don't have to leave the hotel at all. But it's so close to so many interesting shops and restaurants and the museum, that it's worth staying several nights to enjoy it all. The building murals all over downtown are alone worth the stay. There's a neat art gallery shop close by. Can't wait to go back. It's worth every penny.

We had a lovely stay at the Hotel Julien. The room was very pleasant with 2 queen size beds. It does have a coffee maker in the room. However no safes. It is not a beautiful facility. It does have free parking. It is popular for weddings and had 2 on the Saturday night we were there. The Showboat Bar was mediocre but did have a 4-6pm happy hour. The staff were very pleasant. There was one strange issue in that they did not make up our room after the 1st night and told us they didn't make up rooms until we completed our stay. The location is terrific in downtown Dubuque.

Room tip: Pick room overlooking the Mississippi

This is an old but well-kept hotel, a remnant of an earlier day that is managing to hold its own in the 21st century. We had a large, quiet room with two queen beds, plenty of space. Comfortable beds. Friendly staff, convenient outdoor parking even in its downtown location. Unfortunately breakfast is not included.

This is a beautiful hotel with a grand staircase which was draped with white tulle for a wedding. Our room was large with a king size bed and spacious bath. The staff was friendly and mindful of social distancing guidelines. Breakfast was available and served in the dining room. A very enjoyable stay.

Room tip: I always suggest a king size room both for a good night's sleep and for the room size.

The Hotel Julienne is a grand old lady in the middle of Dubuque’s historic downtown. The facility is well preserved for its age, with comfortable beds and bedding and huge bathrooms. Caroline’s restaurant in the bottom of the hotel is great for breakfast. There is ample free parking.
