The lady who checked us in was very fast and helpful. She provided us with info on having a pizza delivered. I appreciate a breakfast being provided, but wish more protein was offered.
The Super 8 in Dyersville, Iowa is located just north of U.S. Route 20 not far from the center of town. It is also right next to the National Farm Toy Museum (you can walk there from the hotel). Dyersville is located about 23 miles west of Dubuque, Iowa and about 65 miles east of Waterloo, Iowa. Super 8 is one of the largest budget hotel chains and is owned by the Wyndham Hotel Group.
I stayed here on a Friday night in mid-August with my wife and thought it was mediocre at best. The pillows were oversized and big and the room and hallways were painted a very unusual green color. The room furniture and the bathroom fixtures were dated and one of the bathroom tiles was floating and was not entirely glued to the floor. The free breakfast consisted of bananas, waffles, coffee and some pastry. It did not look very good so I just took a couple of bananas and walked across the parking lot to full service restaurant. The room rate of $95 per night plus taxes seemed high for the overall age of the property and furnishings. The woman at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The hotel did not give us any extra towels so we made sure we didn’t drop one on the bathroom floor (otherwise we would not have enough).
Overall I thought this was a mediocre hotel with an above average room rate. I would not go out of my way to stay here but if you need to find a place in Dyersville, this one will do (barely). I am glad I only needed to stay there one night.
Room was comfortable. Stay was nice. Breakfast was ok. Had to wait on coffee for breakfast as there was none made. Front staff was very nice. Quiet location. Very close to Field of Dreams movie site and the National Farm Toy Museum is next door.
