Description: Owners and friends Naftaly Stramer and Ofer Sivan created Oasis the Falafel Joint in the summer of 2004. After meeting for lunch in downtown Iowa City the duo lamented that (at the time) falafel was nowhere to be found, and vowed to right this wrong. Naftaly had just left the tech industry and Ofer had just completed his degree in engineering – an unlikely starting place for what would become the world’s best hummus, falafel and fries.

My go to place for a quick tasty lunch at a no nonsense restaurant! Recommend it to anyone who isn’t afraid of flavor.

I love their salads, Taboulas, egg plant dishes, Falafel, and desserts. You can even get their falafel sandwiches at the UI Hospitals and Clinics in the eight floor by taking Elevator F. Enjoy the fun food.

Oasis was delicious, affordable, quaint, and conveniently located. I got the chicken shawarma, which was delicious. My vegan friend got the falafel pita sandwich, and boy did she love it. The baklava was also INCREDIBLE, and the staff was a delight.

Was there around 11:30 on a Saturday, no crowd. Order at the register and they bring it to the table. The food tastes wonderful with the mix of earthy and spicy. Pita sandwich and Mediterranean salad was a great combo.
The food gets a 4.25 but the place is small and could use updating. Plus half way through lunch they started up a huge mixer right behind the partition which was loud and shook the floor. This was very distracting.

Two couples: Genie's Platter, Kebab Platter, chicken shawarma whole pita and chicken shawarma half pita. Sides were Moroccan eggplant and red cabbage and Babba Ganoush. All fresh, delicious and served with homemade cabbage condiments and outstanding homemade green pepper sauce.
Friendly, helpful service. 5 out of 5 stars, the best of the best.
