Beautiful area with great hiking and a decent lodge. Rooms are period style and comfortable. Restaurant was had an ample buffet and food was ok. The staff was quite helpful. There is no bar so plan accordingly if desired.

Bed was horrible, hard as a rock. Sheets, covers were itchy. Bath tub dirty, grout nasty, shower curtain moldy. View was a joke. Staff was awesome. The rm style was charming. Furniture was pretty battered.

The wife and I decided to take a weekend trip to Cumberland Falls, a part of our own state that neither of us had ever visited. It is a beautiful park and I would encourage anyone to go visit the falls. We stayed in the state park lodge and were very satisfied with our stay.

I'll state the obvious, that the lodge is showing its age, but despite this we found it to be mostly charming and completely functional. There was nothing that we were really dissatisfied by.

Our room was clean. The bed was fairly comfortable. Our room did not have a very spectacular view but other parts of the hotel (the hall window outside our room) have a spectacular view of the Cumberland River valley winding down towards the falls.

We had breakfast in the lodge restaurant, and it was quite good.

I would recommend a stay at the Cumberland Falls State Park lodge and would go again given the chance!

Stayed 2 nights and very much enjoyed it. The resort is very charming. It is old but that is its charm. Our room (210) was very clean and the staff here is wonderful. The rooms are on the small side so too much luggage could be an issue and the bathroom is all in one room. The windows in the rooms open and there are screens. It was too hot to sleep with them open in July but boy in the spring or fall this would be great! There is a coffee pot but no refrigerators in the lodge rooms. There are vending and ice machines as well as "to go" soft drinks from the restaurant and a small shop in the balcony over the lobby that has bottled drinks available. The only bad thing was the gap under our door. Luckily we were in a back corner having very little traffic otherwise it could have been very loud.
The swings out front we're our favorite both evenings. The kids swam one morning and the pool was nice and clean with friendly staff over there too.
One word of caution- if you make reservations online, call to check that it is correct. I didn't and when we got to the fully booked resort they had us checking in the next day. I showed my confirmation email and they were not sure how that would have happened but it did. Luckily while standing there someone called to cancel. We lucked out not sure what the result would have been if they hadn't. Just calling to reserve might be best.
Stay here it is a nice experience!

This is a state lodge in a state park. Within that context, the overall experience was very positive. We stayed the weekend prior to July 4th with two children, 12 and 14. Check in was quick and efficient. We had a first floor room in what appeared to be a newer annex. The room and bathroom were small. The bathroom could use some Tilex. The concrete walls did reduce any neighbor noise.

The trails around the lodge are beautiful and very accessible and the hike to the falls was very nice. Additional hikes are within a short drive including the fire tower (go on the ranger hike form the lodge so you can climb to the top). Dog slaughter falls was also a very nice hike.

The restaurant was fine, but nothing spectacular. They tried to add some interest to the buffet with an omelet bar on Sunday and frog legs on Saturday but the main offering was generally the same. Given the reasonable price and convenience, it was a good option for a hearty breakfast or easy dinner. The view from the restaurant is very nice and the evening raccoon visit was entertaining.
