We choose this hotel because it was affordable and near by our attractions with a pool. But as soon as we pulled into the parking lot I regretted not upping the lodging budget of our vacation. It was probably built in the 70's or 80's and hasn't been touched since. The room was in dire need of repair - dry wall putty on walls without paint over it, bathroom door looking like the bottom had been "chewed" off, mattress that felt like an air mattress that had lost half its air (we literally sank to the box spring when sitting on the bed) and we had a major water leak in our bathroom from the ceiling light fixture which they kindly wiped up with towels ;{. Wanted to borrow the computer in the lobby to search the internet but was told that the cord was broken a while ago and not replaced. Staff was nice and very helpful so that was a plus. We stayed two nights and only stayed because we had prepaid through hotels.com and they wouldn't let us cancel - won't ever prepay again!!!

Room Tip: go elsewhere!

Needed an overnight hotel on the way to NewPort Aquarium. Decided to stop here because it was on the way and not directly in Cincinnati. King Bed room was $135. "Pool Side" meaning it was in the same room as the room but on the second floor. Staff seemed a bit unprofessional and young girls that really didn't seem to care that much about anything. Parked outside the dome and stepped in a mystery puddle. Cigarette butts everywhere, I nearly puked. We were in room 201. Walked up the decaying wooden stairs, and swiped our key. Wow. I could not believe how outdated the room was!! It was like we had stepped back into the 80's. I mean it was literally patched together in places. There was no air conditioning other than an old window unit that was stuck in the wall. It barely worked. The wallpaper was peeling everywhere, the carpet was damp and musty. I could not believe we had just paid that much for a room like that. The bed, however was clean and sleepable. We got dressed and went to the pool. I liked that it stayed open until 11, because we arrived late (9pm). The paint was peeling all over the "dome". I really hate to give this place a bad review because I appreciate what it could be. If someone would put the effort into updating this place it could be one of the best hotels in Kentucky. The theme rooms are just something you don't see anymore. I loved the tackyness of it. I really did. Fake palm trees everywhere, it was great lol. JUST UPDATE THE PLACE. You are missing out on a gold mine! We would absolutely return and return if it were to be updated. Our son loved the decorations, and the pool/arcade area. Put the money in and save the place!

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that things didn't measure up for you. We are admittedly an older hotel and under new ownership. We have completed new roofs on all buildings including the Safari Huts in the back of the property. That is the first phase of the renovations. In the year coming we plan to renovate all the rooms and the pool area as well. It is a process which we hope, when completed will make you want to come back again and again.

Everything was just moist, the air, beds, everything. Peeling paint everywhere. Small pool. Over rated. Not as entertaining as expected for pre-teens. Games were outdated. Beds rusted and saggy. Even the kids took one look at the muggy tiny breakfast room and didn't feel comfortable eating there. Save your cash.

We had a pleasant stay. The pool area was a lot of fun for the kids. The rooms were old and needed major updates. The mattress was terrible. The room was clean and smelled fine. Good sound proofing in the walls. Good security in the parking lot and at the front desk. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Never have I been treated so poorly by a hotel company! I ended up coming into town a day early for a convention in Cincinnati. This was one of the few places left with rooms available (for good reasons I now know).

Driving into town late I was 15 minutes away from the hotel and had stopped to grab dinner (fast food mind you) before checking in for the night. I get a phone call from a Kentucky number. I answer, it's the hotel. We booked on Expedia and it was under my child's father's account. She explained the names didn't match (mine and his being different) and that I needed to do something special when the card holder isn't present. I explained no worries that was just holding the room but I will be paying with my card. She began to demand I give her my credit card number. I told her I didn't feel comfortable with that practice over the phone and I was 15 minutes away just grabbing dinner quickly. She said she would cancel the room unless I got there in the next 30 mins.

I hated! To do this. I felt I was being threatened. Long story short they were threatening me. I get there within 15 mins. I am pissed and didn't want to talk to her about anything because of how poor her customer service was.

The manager comes out and starts to instigate. Now you know why such poor staff etiquette. He said he was the manager and what was wrong. I told him I did not want to speak on the situation at this time. He was refusing to give my room key that I had just paid for. Asking repeatedly to tell him what was wrong. And then began yelling at me about how I booked through a third party and he was giving me a courtesy to call me and he could cancel my room. And then! Started yelling at me about it being illegal to sneak a third person in! I don't have any third person with me. I was standing there with myself and a young child.

He then proceeded to kick me out and said he was refunding the transaction. So, I was threatened by staff and management, refused service and was left to scramble to find a room last minute (happily!)

Glad I saw there true colors and did not support such a business. The place looked severely out dated and smelled inside.

Run, run away! As fast as you can!
