Owner description: The Frazier History Museum is a world-class museum that provides an unforgettable journey through history with ever-changing and interactive exhibits, daily performances by costumed interpreters and engaging special events and programs. To complement our amazing permanent collection, which includes thousands of items from famous world leaders and one of the country's largest toy soldier displays, the Frazier Museum offers an ever-changing selection of intriguing temporary exhibits. Every day, we offer live historic performances, bringing visitors face to face with some of the people and events that changed the world forever, as well as with average people whose moving and important stories you've probably never heard. The Frazier Museum is located on downtown Louisville's "Museum Row" in a beautiful 100,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility originally called the "Doerhoefer Building," a late 19th century, Chicago-style commercial structure. The Frazier Museum has three floors of exhibits, an education center, Museum Store and tournament ring, as well as event spaces available for rent, including a beautiful Rooftop Garden featuring seasonal blooming flowers and our Fourth Floor Loft space that accommodates up to 360 people seated.

The museum (and gift shop) is a great place to really get a feel of the founding and early history of Louisville, the history of the Bourbon Trail, and the state of Kentucky as a whole. Give it at least a good hour and a half, maybe two, to really see everything and interact with all of the exhibits.

This museum walks one through Kentucky's history and the men and women who made it. The museum is lovely, and it apparently hosts a myriad of events. Great for kids as well.

My wife and I throughly enjoyed he Lewis & Clark section of the Frazier History Museum. The displays and information was excelent. We found out a lot of information that I had not heard of before. We spent a good 1 1/2 hours and it was worth it. To us, the Lewis & Clark was th highlight of the museum.

So much is happening in this facility. If you are from Kentucky, it's a must to visit and appreciate all that the state has to offer. The history and adventure surely will make Kentuckians proud. And for those that visit our fine city and partake of this great destination, they will be left wondering why they don't live here. Just a lot of good stuff there, for kids and adults too.

Before arriving in Louisville, I had identified the Frazier Museum as a site to visit, but I was afraid that I’d have to suffer through the 1,000 years of history that the Museum’s website reported to cover. To my relief and surprise, this is a very interesting and one of the most engaging museums I’ve visited. It’s located in a huge and beautifully renovated building on Main Street, across from the Louisville Slugger Museum/Factory. There are three expansive floors of various types of displays, including a number of interactive exhibits. Most intriguing to me was the huge interactive table with moving images, each of which told some story related to Kentucky history. The entrance to the third floor is a coordinated series of video displays that give you a sense of being present in various beautiful outdoor scenes, an engaging display of Kentucky’s beautiful countrysides. There are impressive huge collections of miniature soldiers and, of course, an ample tribute to bourbon. My wife and I really liked the actress who portrayed an 1800s Irish seamstress who touched on changes in society as reflected in the dress making industry at the time. The gift shop is large and inviting, offering a lot of souvenirs of a wonderful visit. This is a must-see when you visit Louisville.
