We've been to Butchertown Grocery several times in the past and have always been pleased. Our visit last Saturday was no exception.
One of our foursome has a garlic allergy (I know, isn't that awful!) but our wait person didn't skip a beat: she went back to the kitchen to check, then came back to report the garlic content of everything on the menu. That was service above and beyond. When I ordered a cauliflower side for the table, she told us that the hummus in the dish has garlic so she would serve it on the side.
We all shared the olive platter (very generous) and then split two pecan and pear salads which were excellent. We each had different entrees: short ribs, hanger steak, artic char and a burger. All were well prepared and presented. The wait person was knowledgeable, checked in with us regularly, but didn't make a nuisance of herself.
The prices at Butchertown Grocery are not inexpensive. I found the food, the service and the ambiance made it worth it. Some of the entrees were under $20, but the prime rib was over $70. Anyone can make it affordable if you pay attention.
