“Really good food but terrible atmosphere”
Review of Delfino's Italian Restaurant - CLOSED

Relatively new to Shelbyville and we decided to go to Delfino's after reading some reviews. I think there was some confusion in some reviews we read with the restaurant by the same name in Louisville. The atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. The wait staff is sloppy, you get paper napkins and they serve your drinks in very large mason jars. There is a bar in the main dining area and apparently after a certain time they also play live music right there in the dining room. When we were there, they had a radio or a mix tape of old 70s and 80s rock and roll playing and it was way too loud for the room. Also the people who work there were letting their own children just run around and bang on the pool balls, etc. So the atmosphere left a lot to be desired. We almost got up and left without ordering.
But the food was VERY GOOD. I had lasagna and my wife had ravioli. Both of us agreed that the food was better than what we expected from where we were sitting. And it was reasonably priced. But I don't think we will go back there. Also a word of warning. There is a sign as you enter that says they allow smoking after 8:00 p.m. So if smoking where you are eating bothers you avoid going here for a later dinner.

The owners know how to cook and the food is good. But after one visit to their prior Louisville location, and now two in Shelbyville, it is clear these folks don't know how to actually run a restaurant. We first visited in Shelbyville at their opening. Great menu options, great taste, but horrific service. We visited again last night 2/22/2017, and there is now a limited menu, a pool table, a gambling room, and a fairly poor Elvis style singer. Way too loud and those in the restaurant could have a conversation across a table. Far worse than a bad karaoke bar. Slow service...

Unfortunately the good food isn't worth the visit. You'd be much better off up the street at the Bell House. Or really, at anyplace else. DONT GO HERE. IT ISNT WORTH IT!

Went there on a Friday night expecting a classical Italian Resturant. Instead we found the environment to be more like s pizza shop. They had karaoke on this night and the music was loud. The cheese garlic bread tasted good but the chicken parm sandwich was just ok. Not sure if we will go back.

We stopped expecting a nice Italian restaurant and were disappointed. The food was OK, the service was slow, and were basically the only ones in there! There were three of us, and when we ordered we were specific about, two of the three entree's were not done correctly, and it is pricey.

Plain Italian restaurant, not a fancy place. Garlic knots and chicken piccata were good. The servers were very friendly. There are smaller lunch portions you can buy at dinner also, for people with smaller appetites.
