Kentucky Castle is eclectic. Unfortunately, they can’t decide if they want to be an event venue, a restaurant, or a hotel. Therefore, they do all OK but don’t excel. The good - great location as a base for bourbon trail tour. The spa is excellent. Bartender Jordon fun and knowledgeable but ridiculously overworked. The staff is young, enthusiastic, pleasant but needs some more mature leadership. The bad - don’t expect a great hotel experience. Our room was actually clean, large and well appointed. We were in one of the turrets. There is no phone, they didn’t refill the frig with water or soda, and there was no phone in the room. They lock the main building at midnight so you can’t get in. There is a bar but you can’t really “hang out “there if you’re a guest because there are only 4 bar chairs and the bar tender has to cover the entire restaurant so it can take quite long to get a drink. The ugly - breakfast isn’t served until 8:30 so if you’re an overnight guest don’t expect breakfast and an early start. They really don’t offer or have any of the amenities you’d expect at a nice hotel. Four of us ate at the hotel restaurant one night.my duck was tough and tasteless. Others had lamb, steak and trout that were acceptable.
There’s a lot of potential here.

What an amazing place! When pulling up to the castle, it takes your breath away because you can’t believe your eyes. The Kentucky Castle, also known as Castle Post, Martin Castle and Versailles Castle, is literally a castle in Versailles, no not France… Construction actually started in 1969. It appears to have been renovated more recently and seems to be a popular place for weddings. We stayed in the Chalet, a two story outlier turret on the front side of the castle. It had two small balconies, a small refrigerator and microwave. The bedroom was on the second floor. The air-conditioning within the unit worked really well and was quiet and the shower/bath was great. The bed was super comfortable with premium linens, soft towels and robes were a nice touch. Nicely decorated. The hotel staff was super accommodating and so nice. They recommended Horse and Barrel tours to take us out for the day to visit some distilleries and a horse farm - please see my other reviews for notes on those. It was a perfect day out. The pool was just about the right size for the 13 or 14 exclusive rooms at this resort. Ramona, who took care of us was amazing!! All the staff was great here. Take a walk to the backside of the castle and visit the gardens, the flowers are beautiful and you can see where all the fresh food comes from. They had chickens and baby goats and sheep on site. Great place for well-behaved pups. We were so happy this place was dog friendly.

Right off from the start the beauty of the resort, grounds is surreal. Walking in, from the floors to ceilings - top notch adding Fabulous staff. Happy, friendly staffers feel like family. Rooms, bathrooms were spacious. Dining was not far behind. Food was delicious! Loved walking the grounds and cutting fresh lavender, so peaceful.
