We usually go to the Albasha's in Baton Rouge, but we stumbled on a restaurant.com coupon for this one and decided to check it out (since we were going to stay in Shreveport area).

At first glance, the outside of the restaurant does not look that nice. There's still some paint from the old restaurant's name on the outside wall, and the parking lot had garbage around it. However, once you step inside it is nice and welcoming! It looks newly renovated inside as well.

The atmosphere is not the same as any other Albasha's we've been to; it has more of a cool, night-hangout vibe. Other Albasha's emphasize traditional Greek murals and music. It is not bad by any means, it just stands out from other Albasha's we've been to previously.

We ordered the Lebonese tea, Albasha's Platter (came with kibbi and grape leaves), Chicken shawarma and gyro platter, baklava, and tiramisu! It also came with fresh pita bread! We had a lot of leftovers because it is served in big portions. The food was wonderful!

The waitress we had was friendly and very accommodating. We chose a more private area of the restaurant so we could eat alone, and she checked on us often (and not the "annoying often" either).

Ladies - the restroom is completely zebra striped with modern art! Very nice!

After leaving Dallas and heading home to Illinois we stopped in Shreveport for lunch. This middle Eastern place far from the city center sounded interesting as we read about it on the Internet. And we found the food to be very good. And the waiter was very friendly and helpful.

There was nothing special about what we ordered to drink (typical American soft drinks). As we were not terribly hungry, we ordered light. My wife had a fatoush salad with chicken which was very good. I also like my taboule salad (traditional Lebanese parley, cracked wheat) and bowl of Adass soup (lintel beans) - but the salad was way too big to eat all of it.

With tax and tip: $28.00.

We happened upon this restaurant by accident when looking for another place that was closed. As someone else noted the location is a lttle difficult to access but its worth it. The place was clean and the decor was pleasant. We had the Meat Moukassa and a gyro sandwich and both were very good. The hummus that came with the gyro was very tasty. Both these selections were under $12 which was a very good price for the quality and quantity. We would definately return.

Getting here can be a little odd because of its location. The decor in the dining room leaves a lot to be desired, but it is new and clean. The service is average, which is actually good for this town. With all that said, the reason to come here is for the food. Albasha makes some of the best hummus I have ever eaten. I recommend the Meza plate when dining with someone. It gives you a good sampling of many excellent dishes. The food is always fresh and hot. A kids menu is available, and the kids really like the food. Try going on a night when they offer live belly dancing.

Tonight was my first time here and I will be coming back. The food tasted great and was authentic (I will try to attach pictures). The waitress was very polite, even described each dish and what it contained without me asking. If you go there, be sure you have "Erica" wait on you. The owner also came by once to check on us and see if we needed anything else. They have a belly dancer come on Saturday nights and you can also enjoy a hookah on the patio. They also have a fully stocked bar.
