We had room 500. Paid a lot of money for 4 days, the shower is small the air conditioner did not cool the rooms. There was mold in the shower. Love Boothbay but the Tugboat Inn needs a lot of help. Breakfast was not worth getting up for.

Thank you very much for your review. We apologize that the suite was not in tip top condition during your stay. Customer satisfaction is very important to us and we want to make sure we address any problems that are brought to our attention. We try very hard to make sure our rooms and food are meeting our guests' expectations and we are sorry if we fell short this time. We appreciate your feed back and will follow up on your concerns.
We hope you might try us again at some point, and we look forward to better serving you in the future.

Best regards,
Bonnie Stover

While getting a bit dated and worn. Do not get me wrong, very clean and functional. Very good staff. Ideal location, Good complimentary breakfast. Come up every year after labor day. Favorite spot. Time to upgrade rooms a bit. Clean not worn but need refreshing. Good mattress, clean bath clean carpeting etc. Will go again next year!

Room Tip: Main building has best rooms

The positives were the breathtaking scenery of the harbor and the hot tub. The negatives: the room was cramped and musty. You can hear everyone and everything at night. Parking was hard to find. Breakfast was disappointing. There was a crowd there at 9 am and there were no eggs, hardly any pastries, and no bowls for cereal. Not worth the $207.

Let me start by saying the Tugboat Inn met our expectations in a good way, but definitely is not a luxury hotel. We were there in the middle of the peak Aug season so the room rate was very high (as it is anywhere in Maine during peak season). Do not let the high room rate lead you to expect a luxury hotel. The Tugboat Inn is an older Maine waterfront three star hotel with rooms directly over the water and spectacular views of the sunrise. Check in was quick and the check in staff was very friendly. At check in they asked how many keys we wanted because, since they are old fashioned real keys, some of the rooms only had one key available. Don't lose your key. She told us we would get a better view if we went for a room that only had one key. Our room was in the part of the inn that rests on pylons jutting out over the water. From inside the room you can occasionally hear the water below your feet giving you the feeling you are on a boat. The room was large enough to fit two double size beds and a desk and chair. The room decor was definitely very dated and reminded me of a kitschy motel from the 60s. But, we actually enjoyed the kitschyness of it. It really is exactly what we expected for a room over the water in a Maine fishing town. At check in they gave us coupons for discounts at their restaurants and for wine or beer during happy hour. The included breakfast was standard motel buffet with a waffle maker, eggs, bacon, and a tasty hash. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The views from the deck outside our room were exceptional and we got up early every morning to watch the sunrise. A fun place to stay.

Have stayed here once before. Room was much nicer that time. Rooms on the wharf need major upgrading. The location is perfect. The restaurant was wonderful and the service terrific. Only reason I did not rate higher was the rooms being very old, cramped and outdated. Love the idea of a coupon for getting two local beers in the tavern. Really enjoyable stay
