My husband and I stayed in this inn a few years ago before Lark properties took it over about a year and a half ago, and at that time, it was a lovely historical inn. Except for the Inn Keepers, who were very nice and helpful, the rest of our experience on this recent visit was very disappointing. As an Interior Designer, I realize I have a more trained eye, but there is no rhyme or reason to furnish, what was a beautiful historical home, in contemporary design. As you entered the foyer, there are two bright yellow plastic chairs. As we proceeded to our room, there was a mix of metal ,glass, lucite and laminate furnishings. It was not in any way aesthetically pleasing. I happen to like contemporary design but whether it's contemporary or traditional design, there are still design principles regarding scale and proportion,
none of which was found in this inn. Besides the horrific contemporary design which was mismatched for this historical home, the breakfast was average at best. If you are looking for an historical New England inn, this is not the place. We would never stay here again.

We’re happy to hear that you had pleasant interactions with our lovely managers, but we are so sorry and surprised to hear that your stay was not up to your expectations. We are a bit confused as to your comments about being a guest a few years ago. Lark Hotels CEO, Rob Blood, has owned Captain Fairfield Inn for over a decade and the inn was the first Lark Hotel in the collection — founded 5 years ago. Our wonderful award-winning design, by Rachel Reider Interiors, combines both historic elements and a modern edge. We understand that the look may not be for everyone, but it has been part of the charm of the inn for quite some time. Many guests comment on the mix of old world and modern amenities, as well as our famous small plates breakfast, which offers guests a chance to try a little bit of everything.

My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay at the Captain Fairfield Inn. We were warmly greeted by Marianne and Rodolfo, the Innkeepers. They made sure we had everything we needed, prepared lovely tapas style breakfast and even provided us with an iPad all loaded with information about the area and the inn. The inn was immaculate with a beautiful decor that blended the old charm with modern decor. It is nestled in a charming, well kept neighborhood which was within an easy walking distance from Dock Square. Each morning my husband and I went out for our early morning walk and found the neighborhood very pleasant to walk about. Having been to Kennebunkport in the crowded summer months, we found early June a calm pleasant time to enjoy the spring gardens and mild temperatures. We have already marked our calendars for late fall to return! If you are wondering if this inn is a good choice, wonder no more. You have found a terrific place from which to enjoy the charm of Kennebunkport!

Small boutique style inn. Quiet residential area, but near shops and restaurants. Charming and efficient staff. Room, Lark Suite, very nice and spacious with fire place. Big bathroom. Nice garden. Public areas small, especially the breakfast room. Unusual breakfast - very tasty small dishes, but don't expect scrambled eggs, toast or jam. Management charming and efficient.

Room Tip: Lark suite, room 1, ground floor, own patio garden and fire place

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Inn. The innkeepers Marianne and Rodreko were terrific! They gave us a warm welcome ! The Inn was a classic New England Inn with modern touches. It was very clean and the beds were comfortable. We slept soundly! Breakfast was very tasty! I loved sitting in the yard with my coffee very peaceful! I especially liked the convenience of walking to town. We enjoyed the clam shack and Alison's. We called a tie for the lobster rolls! Don't miss the Vines restaurant really good. We also had a lovely dinner Saturday evening at the white Barn if you can indulge do it,great food, service, piano music and atmosphere! We rented bicycles in town, it was great biking along Ocean avenue one of my favorites. We also did a sailing on the pineapple Ketch. We really enjoyed this also beautiful and smooth sailing !
We love Kennebunkport and the people and it's charm! Can't wait to return! I'm a big fan of the Lark Hotel Brand !

The Captain Fairfield Inn is beautiful and the Inn keepers, Rodolfo and Marianne are wonderful hosts. They provided delicious breakfasts and treats as well as helpful information in a most comfortable environment. We chose this location after the Lark property in Narragansett RI became unaffiliated with Lark and refused to honor our gift certificate. CEO Rob Blood was so quick to respond to my e-mail with excellent customer service that we decided to pick another Lark property instead of taking a refund for the gift certificate.Glad we did! Thank you Rob,Rodolfo and Marianne, can't wait to "go out on a Lark" again.
