The food at Milk & Honey is excellent. I highly recommend the mac 'n' cheese! The fish cakes and sesame noodles are not to be missed.

A small operation with yummy goodies. Park in town and then visit the rare books store which has no website (Wikegan Books, 117 Main St.)

Hubby and I had a perfect snack here - fresh mini quiches and lemon doughnuts, with hot tea and a view of the garden. The chairs were padded, the servers were smiling, and it was just what we needed on a foggy morning. Thanks for a great memory!

Tasty food for a quick lunch but very small portions and pricey. Salads are tiny. Mac and Cheese was very good. Coffee not so good.

We had expectations thatMilk and Honey would provide a welcome pleasant experience, differentiated from the plethora of fast food joints that dominate the food scene. We were disappointed.

Let me explain. We are Australians travelling in Alaska, Canada and Maine for 2 months. Retired, we travel about 5 months of the year and have been to more than 50 countries. We want to experience different cultures. We have been to many parts of the USA during the past 50 years.

The domination of the eating business by fast food outlets is obvious. Clearly, other options have been crowded out. Their food is disgustingly unhealthy and that is reflected in the size and lack of fitness of many patrons.

For Milk and Honey to survive and prosper, it needs to differentiate itself. The initial service certainly wasn't fast and our quiches were forgotten in the microwave so we had to go and ask for them.

We were appalled to find that the food was served on cheap cardboard plates and with plastic cutlery.

The salad was absolutely tasteless, and boring and small and served in a plastic container.

Dare I say it, we could have had a better experience at Tim Horton or Macdonalds.

This little cafe could have ambience and style. Some suggestions:

Buy eclectic second hand plates and cutlery that provide a grass roots and slightly hippy feel.

Arrange the food and garnish it. Serve it. You might even get some good tips.

Arrange the furniture better and make better use of the back area.

Improve the flow in your ordering system.

Good grief. It sounds like you ought to open your own restaurant, where you can implement some of your incredibly specific "tips".
