Visited for dinner to celebrate birthdays and were blown away by the quality of the food. We started with 5 small plates (mushroom ragout, veal polpetti, prosciutto, smoked mussels and gran padano cheese) and everything was phenomenal. Some of the best food we’ve ever had. The bread tasted homemade as well and we even asked for seconds which is something we never do.

For our main course we ordered the Agnolotti which had every piece of pasta generously filled with what seemed like no space for air and the Gulf of Maine which was swordfish and perfectly prepared with a great balance of flavors.

Nick did a great job of balancing an informative approach to serving with very low key interactions which made everything seem very natural and unforced while still letting us celebrate such a special occasion.

You definitely need to visit this place. We’re tempted to make the trip up from NYC a few times a year.

We visited last night and were so disappointed with the service that I am in our hotel writing my first trip advisor review! Rude waiter. When we first arrived we ordered a bottle of wine we have had before and are fond of. He brought us a different bottle of wine trying to pass it off for the expensive one we ordered. When we asked why he said they were out of the other one. Why not tell us and ask our opinion before making the substitution? The real trouble started when he was extremely unwilling to accommodate our teenage son with food allergies. As soon as we brought up the food allergies, his demeanor changed and he was very cold and matter of fact. This is the way it’s made... my son feels bad enough as it is and embarrassed each time he has to list his food allergies, so most waitstaff show or fake some empathy. This waiter instead of attempting to accommodate us immediately suggested there was only one thing on the menu for him. The restaurant did not want to prepare anything with a variation so that we could be have a pleasant experience. We of course tried to suggest variations that most restaurants have been willing to do for us. We should have left at that point. Big mistake! We asked to substitute the butter for olive oil in the linguine and clams, and to leave the cheese out. They said they’d have to leave out the garlic also. Who can eat that dish without garlic? The chef apparently did not have garlic that wasn’t part of a compound butter. The restaurant is supposedly a made to order place. How could you not have a couple of garlic cloves laying around? That seemed like an excuse, a lazy chef perhaps, unwilling to chop some fresh garlic. This is just one example (out of many) of our futile attempt to have a positive dining experience at this establishment. The waiter and chef should take a course on empathy before continuing in the hospitality industry. Worst experience of our Maine vacation.

Exquisite and excellent still, Five-O remains the best in a town of wonderful dining. Have been coming here at different seasons for over fifteen years and am still mesmerized with the magnificence of the food and service. They label themselves an Italian restaurant, and they do serve some amazing northern Italian dishes, but they are so much more as they creatively craft cocktails, small plates, and entrees based on the bounty of coastal Maine, both sea and local farms. Everything has just that little extra something from which memories are made. If you are in Ogunquit for only one night, this is your place. If there for a week, this is your special night spot. Enjoy!

The food here is very good. I had the salmon and my husband had the bolognese. We both enjoyed our meals. I ordered a coconut ginger martini...So good I had to order another. The location on Shore Rd is perfect.

We enjoyed our food a lot - lubina over couscous and boar ragu. The servings are just large enough but not too overwhelming. We had a small appetizer - chicken pate - and loved that as well. We broke habit and had a dessert - tasting of 3 desserts - loved it! The atmosphere is busy - Saturday night 730pm - which we expected. Not an intimate dining area but OK in that respect. We didn't have to yell to converse. It seems that where we sat - outside the kitchen area - may have been last to be installed, as it appeared that the wait staff seem to have to weave their way around chairs, etc. I would not sit here again. The waiter was terrific - Shawn - and we were not left wanting for assistance. The food is first class - would come here again.
