Description: The York Harbor Inn’s recently renovated restaurant- “1637”, offers wonderful ocean view dining in a landmark historic inn. Upon entering the dining room, you are welcomed to the past, present and future in both atmosphere and culinary art. Our menu, featured in Food & Wine Magazine, emphasizes native seafood, creatively prepared and artfully presented, as well as casual, contemporary cuisine. Menu highlights include our gourmet Flatbreads made with our own smoked sausage or fresh lobster meat, Lobster Tempura, a Ploughman’s Platter featuring house cured meats and homemade sausage, a Raw Bar menu featuring fresh oysters, shrimp, and clams, Corn and Lobster Chowder and our locally famous Seafood Chowder, as well as the best in steaks and pasta dishes. Our ocean-view piano bar has entertainment many nights of the week and Sunday Brunch is served year round.

Highest compliments to the chef. The food was some of the best we have ever had. My husband and I both ordered the filet mignon, and they were cooked to perfection. The asparagus was beautiful, and the mashed potatoes had so much flavor. We couldn't have asked for a better meal. Dessert was blueberry pie a la mode and a flourless chocolate torte. Both were superb, but the blueberry pie was the star.. and I'm a baker! So I'm not impressed by Average.

The waitress was snooty and condescending, never asked how our meal was, and seemed put off by my husband's food allergy. She doted on the other parties in the room but seemed to dismiss us, despite our $150 bill for the meal, and the fact that we were guests in the Inn (don't stay at the York Harbor Inn, it's the absolute worst - just go there for dinner).

Went there for brunch on Sunday. Menu was both standard for brunch yet eclectic. I had the “skinny” poached eggs special—do not let the name fool you. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly, and they sat on a bed of feta, roasted tomatoes, olives. It was not overpowering feta or salty flavors one might think of with this combination. My friends enjoyed their whiskey baked beans, seafood medley eggs Benedict, lobster Benedict and a duck confetti.

This was my first time to York and I would return to the York Inn and 1637. Very quintessential Maine in the fall with the added bonus of a beach view.

We live local and have our choice of restaurants to dine in with out of town friends and this is by far our favorite place to have dinner. If you are looking for a superb dining experience with excellently prepared dishes and drink, friendly service, in a quaint relaxing atmosphere this is it. You can chat and hear your conversation unlike many restaurants today that are horribly loud. This time we had the Pesto Chicken, Seafood Ravioli and Osso Bucco and all enjoyed their meals. The warm gingerbread pudding was sooooo good.

The menu in this dining room is the same as the pub down stairs, but this is elegant and down stairs is much louder. The menu features many very good and more labor intensive offerings, not just boiled or grilled meat. I thought the seafood pie with haddock, shrimp, and scallops was wonderful. The ravioli was also excellent. The bread is soft and fresh. The wines well chosen and well described. Our waitress was also spectacular.
