Joe's is a little hole in the wall with no street presence. Unpretentious with an incredible lineup of noodle dishes. I returned recently after being away for several years and found the place has not changed much. Service is friendly and English communications weak, but adequate. The only dish I have had is the Korean Seafood Noodle Soup and it is the best in the world. Very spicy and a large portion, this dish will warm you up on a cold day.

I've been going to Joe's for years, including this week, but haven't reviewed until now. There's good competition in Rockville, but Joe's is my favorite of all the Rockville Chinese restaurants, much less just among the Sichuan spots. Not much ambience at Joe's but that's part of the ambience, as it were (we usually get takeout). Consistently great, flavorful, often spicy food. Kung pao chicken homestyle is terrific, authentic - just chicken, peanuts, chilis, and scallions, not a bunch of other filler like most places serve - and delicious, I order it every time. Dan dan noodles, spicy noodles with spinach and ground pork - all the noodle dishes and noodle soups are winners. Also love the sliced pork with hot pepper and leek. Spicy and dry beef saute is killer but too much heat for me to handle anymore. Also: large portions and low prices. It's gold, Jerry. Gold!

Once upon a time, this place was top notch and always crowded. Not anymore.

Decor: beat up. Dirty carpet. Ten years overdue for painting.

Service: Not so hot. Appetizers came when we were almost done with the main course.

Food: Good Hot & Sour soup. Spicy cold chicken was terrible. Chicken in Balck Bean sauce was good but not special.

A bit dated but comfortable environment. This is a regular drop in spot with some favorites but they have daily specials on the the board that I often try.
You can get a bit of a dim sum from the menu too.
And there are Russian and Persian stores and groceries around.

Great hole in the wall restaurant, doesn't look like much from outside but was worth the trip.

Fantastic deep fried fish and good fried potstickers.

Friendly staff, provided a pot of hot tea and served quickly. I was there shortly before closing, but they did not rush or balk at me.

Strongly recommend.
