Until recently, metro-west Boston was a desert when it came to good dining experiences. That has all changed with a number of high-end restaurants settling into Burlington and our go-to choice is ICOB. We booked with an out-of-town guest for Saturday night, a night we usually choose not to go out. While the restaurant was in top gear, we were greeted warmly and seated immediately. The seafood is perfect; my tuna poke was perfectly diced cubes of glistening tuna with just the right touch of sesame and soy to provide that perfect umami flavor. It is a nice-sized portion for a starter. Our friend had the steamed clams, one of my favorites, which were perfectly cooked in a spoon-it-up broth. The oysters were superb as was my husband's striped bass with white beans. The bread, house-made, is to die for! The wine list has some interesting selections. The waitstaff is superb, making the experience one to come back for. Even on a jam-packed Saturday night, we loved our dinner and had a great time. That's what I hope for every time I go out to eat!

Your visit to Burlington is incomplete without a visit to the Island Creek Oyster Bar. Offering both indoor and outdoor seating, this restaurant has an interesting seafood menu and a great wine collection. A great place to enjoy a wonderfully crafted meal in an excellent ambiance. Don't miss it!!

As diners who have enjoyed meals in their Kenmore Square location, we made a reservation for this Burlington site, which opened last November. It is literally within sight of the Legal Sea Food restaurant in Burlington Mall, so we thought "this is going to give Legal a run for their money". Well, not quite -- since it takes a lot more money to eat at ICOB. And Legal ain't exactly inexpensive.
Things started awkwardly, as our inexperienced waitress couldn't help us much in making menu choices. It seemed unlikely that she had tasted the ones we were asking about. We ordered anyway, and got lucky on a couple items we liked -- fried oyster sliders and grilled haddock cheek. But the lobster bisque was bland. Other items were ordinary, but at 50% higher price. I would have liked to try the lobster roll, but I couldn't bring my self to do it not at $32.
And, finally, their is the noise level. As the restaurant filled up the noise grew to deafening levels. Seated at a two-top, we could not really converse anymore. The adjacent two-tops, along the banquette wall, were so tightly packed that we could hear their conversations better than we could hear each other.
And when time came to leave (after the inexperienced waitress placed the check in front of the one of us who had gotten the Birthday-celebration dessert and candle!), there was no way to squeeze out from the banquette side without rubbing against our neighboring table. They had to move some dishes to make it possible. And I'm thin and wasn't wearing a jacket!
All in all, we are unlikely to repeat.

If you are an oyster lover then you will not go wrong. Everything we ordered was delicious.

The place itself is really cool and stylish. The staff were excellent and even the music was damn cool.

Will definitely return.

We were a bit misled by the trip advisor $$-$$$ rating, we felt this should have been higher. What do you think with a $32 lobster roll of average size on the menu that came with soggy potato chips? The clam chowder was good and flavorful but the lobster bisque was greasy and flavorless not sure how the two were so different. The atmosphere is nice, our server was flat, I don't think we will return again.
