Main gate is under construction, but we did not observe anyone working on this during our weekday visit. Ask at Lizzie Borden House for driving directions into alternate enterance. We ended up parking on side street int he back of cemetary and walking through a sketchy back gate. Quite the hoofing, only to make it to front gate and end up at other Borden Plot. Afer observing several cars drive through cemetary, we followed the pack and found the plot. Not much to see, but something to do. We certainly got our steps in that day.

We went to the cemetery to visit the graves of Lizzie Borden and her family. There are arrows in the pavement which direct you to the Borden plot but the front gate was closed for work repairs. We found a side entrance gate (no arrows there) and by sheer luck we drove around enough to finally make our way to the arrows. After visiting the Borden graves, we continued to drive around Oak Grove and it is massive. Other than Arlington, this was the largest cemetery I have ever seen. Large but very well maintained. The groundskeepers do a superb job.

Even on a very hot day (it was 91 degrees) there was enough shade and a pleasant breeze that kept us very comfortable as we explored this beautiful cemetery and lingered for awhile at the burial site of the infamous Borden family. There are many Borden's in the cemetery but most visitors make a point of seeking out the site where Lizzie, her parents and sisters are interred. The way is well marked when you enter the main gates you turn left and follow the arrows painted on the road which will take you right to the site. Pay your respects then wonder around and just enjoy the lovely, well maintained grounds and maybe even a picnic. Great place to get some exercise too! Definitely worth a trip if you are in the area.

This is really easy to get to, and white arrows direct you to the family plot. We stayed at the Lizzy Borden House B&B, so a visit to her grave was on the agenda as well.
I suppose there are lots of other interesting monuments in this HUGE cemetery, but once we saw the Bordens we were done.

Kind and helpful person at the Office pulled the Plot card for my 3 Greats Grandfather and his family and highlighted the location on the map. Far too few "street" signs made finding it difficult. It is a massive cemetery with meandering roads and paths. Well maintained and now have many photos to add to the family genealogy.

One CAUTION. Entrance and Office is at end of Prospect. Both Google and Waze directed me to the end of Garden and a rusty locked chain link fence.
