What a lovely, homey place to stay for 4 adults and 2 children! A beautiful home, well furnished, tastefully decorated, clean and cozy, in a quiet neighborhood. Plenty of room. Upstairs there were three spacious bedrooms with plenty of closet and storage space; two beautifully renovated baths with plenty of hot water. Downstairs, there was a comfortable living room and a spacious den. Our favorite, where we spent most of our “in house times”, was the spacious dining area, with plenty of seating and the fully equipped kitchen. Outside, there was a pleasant yard, full of flowers, room for a cookout, and a swing for the kids. And there was enough parking for our two vehicles.
Our hostess, Elisabeth, made sure we had everything we needed. The house was a short walk to the beach and the center of historic Marblehead, with shopping and restaurants. It was a great focal point for trips to Boston, Salem and other North Shore sites.
Loved the place, it felt like home. Would definitely stay here again.
Wow! Great summer stay and family reunion in Marblehead, thanks in no small part to this absolutely pristine home. The photos do NOT do this home justice. The feel is "Ralph Lauren beach cottage" - warm creams and navy blue with fresh white trim and immaculate wood floors. Front hall, unlike photo, now sports two handsome and extremely comfortable black leather recliners, perfect for reading or napping. The dining room table is substantial with plenty of very comfortable seating. There's a charming built-in cabinet that houses all the glassware. The kitchen is totally up to date and very well stocked with equipment for everything from breakfast to a dinner party. The handsome den is extremely comfortable, smartly designed to seat everyone comfortably. Instructions for TV and movie watching are present and clear. Included is a big basket of children and baby toys.
Upstairs is equally well done - bedding and area carpets are welcoming, high end and crisp. There is more than ample storage in closets and contemporary white dressers. Bedding is 1 king (can be made up as twins) and two queens. Bathrooms are beautifully renovated, light, bright and magazine-attractive with yummy towels. The house feels solid - noise does not travel. Outside the dining room door are a darling European patio and steps leading down to a small grass side and back yard with an apple tree, a rope swing and lots of lawn furniture. Walks to Devereux Beach (with restaurant, restrooms, playground and picnic tables) were a leisurely 10 minutes.
I grew up in this area before moving away and know that, despite its wonderful charm, beauty and history, the town is not a large source of resort-level accommodations. If you are coming for the first time or "coming home," do not miss the chance to stay at this charming "home away from home!
