I can't say enough good things about this place. Although the outside might seem unimposing, the food is absolutely incredible. Between two young women, we managed to consume taquitos, garlic & parmesan yuca fries, huevos rancheros, and the Guatemalan tacos and even mustered the strength to order the pineapple upside-down cake because we couldn't stop eating the delicious food. Everything was homemade and very fresh and arrived with very little wait. The close quarters of the restaurant contributed to the intimate atmosphere and helped enhance the experience. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and the owner came by to chat with us and share his new menu designs that they just completed. I cannot say enough good things about this place and I can't wait to come back for my next meal!

Our fourth visit. First three were absolutely great, tonight not so much.
Our waitress was in a very extended conversation with a friend at the counter and ignored us for an extended period.
We ordered tostadas appetizer to share, chicken mole and the swordfish special.the appetizer and swordfish came out together. We expressed surprise and our waitress told us that people usually have the tostadas for an entree. This makes no sense as this is listed as an appetizer and due to the fact that we told her we'd have it to split to start.
She then informed us that the reason the mole didn't come out was that they only serve when food ready and hot. All well and good, but it wasn't hot when it came.
We had had the mole previously and it was far better in prior visits. The swordfish was terrific, however the accompaniment the waitress described wasn't included. When we questioned this, she informed us that they had run out. No apology, no substitution.
Our experience best summed up by agreeing that we are glad we had had wonderful experiences previously as had this been our first visit, we'd not have returned. Hopefully this was just one off night.

Stopped here on the way home from a CT road trip only because it was 3pm and a google search from the car showed breakfast here all day. Great call because it was fantastic. Yummy guatemalan spins on american classics like eggs benedict and omlettes, all from scratch. Cant wait to go back for dinner and try the short rib soup, it smells and looks wonderful. So did everything else coming out of the kitchen. Someone's mom passed on some awesome recipes, cuz things have that "just like mom makes" flavor to it, the food is a labor of love there.

Friendly, honest food with glimpses of greatness surrounding the authentic Guatemalan choices and nice effort on the seemingly out of place but welcome all day breakfast, burgers etc. This is the kind of place that can soar with some quick and easy refinement.

Two Guatemalan dishes we ordered recently were super salty and one, had a huge amount of garlic. As we were very hungry we ate without complaint but the chef needs to cut the salt level at least in half. Less is more and one of us a garlic lover felt it was unexpectedly over garlicky. We really felt the salt levels later and we're not blue hairs.

Both the shrimp dish and shrimp and mussels over rice dish could have been superb, but both had so much salt, the bite came from a sodium hit, rather than freshness, spices or experience. If sodium is a cover for lack of flavor then there's an issue here, if it's just a heavy hand as we suspect, easily correctable!

We say Go, but ask that your food be low salt and see what happens. They will eventually get the message...Or not. We'll be back for breakfast and give it a second chance. Go. It's worth the visit with tweaks.

Our neighbors recommended Villatoro – our family of four tried it tonight for dinner and loved it. Everything we ordered was delicious – steak, tacos, tostadas, plantains, huevos rancheros (breakfast food is served all day). The menu also has lots of traditional American diner options. We loved the decor, especially the maps and descriptions of local hiking trails at our booth. The flat screen over the counter playing the Food Network distracted from the cozy ambiance. Service was super friendly and made us want to return soon.
