however many authentic works by Russian artists are on display creating wonderful ambience. Definitely the place to try all the famous Russian delicacies: borsch, caviar, blini; not necessary in this order. Friendly bilingual service, delicious and large portion main course made everyone happy. Great place for quiet lunch or fun dinner!

Our family was preparing for a trip to Russia, and we wanted to introduce our 8 year-old to Russian food. We were happy going for lunch time on a Sunday which was pretty quiet. This allowed us to talk with the staff who were very friendly and helpful! Even suggesting places for us to visit during our trip. All of the food was delicious! - the borscht, cutlet pozharsky, pelmeni, blini, pirozhki. Look forward to coming back after our trip!

Love it. If you really want to try authentic Russian food - this is the place to go. We tried Borsch, pelmeni, chicken Tabaka - all so good. The also have caviar.

A small tip : The location is a bit hard to find. If you go to actual address on Union st, you will find only a narrow non-discret door, while main entrance is from courtyard.

My husband and I first discovered Cafe St Petersburg when it was in a small storefront in Brookline. While some of the charm was lost when the restaurant moved to Newton, the menu and staff have largely remained the same. We've taken both family and friends here and everyone ends up coming back! The house vodka is not to be missed! blintzes (potato or meat) are a wonderful first course. Borscht is available in a meat or vegetarian version--both served with a pirozki. Cucumber salad (and the Georgian salad) are consistently fresh. The restaurant has a large selection of entrees, all of which are good. However, the chicken tabaka is outstanding! Dessert selections are limited--would highly recommend Natan's blintzes, filled with a combination of sweet cheese, cherries and peaches. Turkish coffee is also a rich treat (but might keep you up all night)! Prices are very reasonable, particularly when compared to Boston restaurants.
