My husband went to Cape Cod as a child and wanted to take our family. We stumbled upon Home Away and found the Bayberry Bend Cottage. The reviews and photos were great seemed almost too good to be true (but they were not). The cottage was perfect. The perfect Cape Cod stay!!! Cute front porch with 2 chairs where we sat and had our coffee in the morning. Spacious cottage that comfortably housed myself my husband and our 2 daughters. A great back yard with a patio set, grill and FABULOUS out door shower. The owners were fantastic, they met us there upon our arrival, showed us around, gave us some great "Cape Cod" info and even invited us to join them at their Home Owner's Association picnic. It was great. The place was clean, there was everything there that we could need (coffee filters, saran wrap, etc. etc. etc). You need to bring your own linens (towels/sheets). The only negative thing that I can say about the cottage was that the bathroom was a bit small, not a deal breaker though. It was a little more than a mile to Provincetown, close enough to walk, a quick bike ride or drive. There is a beach right across the street, great when the tide is low. What more can I say, I highly recommend Cape Cod and the Bayberry Bend Cottage.
A wonderful place to stay with everything you need to make it a fine vacation.
A few considerations to mention: for older folks or those who are overweight, the stairs to the loft are very steep, the toilet space in the bathroom is very tight and the loft itself is quite low. In fact, we slept with our heads at the foot of the bed to avoid hitting our heads on the slopping ceiling. My spouse felt somewhat claustrophobic in the loft after a few nights stay.
Lots of hot water with good pressure in the shower.
WiFi is fast and reliable (make sure you get the correct password - it took us almost a day to get hooked up as the owner had inadvertently given us an incorrect password). That problem was sorted out and there were no other connection issues.
One drawback might be the distance into the core of P-town. I clocked it at about 2 miles. Not very practical to walk. Parking that can be an issue. As we were off season, we parked on the street with no problem although it appears that a resident vignette is required (although there were no signs to that effect). We did not get a ticket or even a warning. We were quite pleased about that.
The owner (Dan Sardo) could easily be reached by email or phone to iron out any issues. Although he lives off location, he was attentive to our needs.
